We are here to assist you in the enrollment process at Kean as well as support you during your studies. There are three basic steps in the enrollment process: Apply for admission Receive admissions decision Submit immigration documents Apply for your visa and register for courses Each step is explained in detail in the attached packet. Please complete all necessary documentation and return them to the Center for International Studies Office quickly. As an international student interested in applying to Kean University, you must be aware of the admissions processes. An International Applicant is someone who is applying for an F-1 student visa to study in the United States or is currently on an F-1. The procedures to apply to Kean are listed below. Step 1: Apply for admissions Apply online! For more information, please visit: Freshmen, Transfer, & Second Degree Admission: http://www.kean.edu/admissions/international-application-instructions Graduate Admission: http://grad.kean.edu/prospective-students NOTE: The ADMISSION PROGRAM CODE is (ISA). Step 2: Receive Admission Decision and Pay Deposit International students who are offered admission to Kean University are required to remit the tuition deposit as indicated in your offer letter in the form of a certified check (bank draft not acceptable) money order, or personal check (drawn on U.S. banks or through Peer Transfer peertransfer.com); you can make the payments at Student Accounting located at the Administration Building Third floor. Another payment option can be made by the Tuition Management Systems (TMS). You can access TMS website directly at www.afford.com or call 1(800) 722-4867. This deposit is credited towards the first semester s tuition and does not apply to the housing application fee. The I-20 form will only be processed once the payment has been made. Step 3: Submit Immigration Documents to CIS As an F-1 student visa applicant, you must submit all of the financial documents before an I-20 will be issued. A complete packet should include the following: Declaration of Current Student Status Form Affidavit of Support Sponsor or personal bank statement in U.S. dollars. Sponsor s proof of income (Copy of pay stub OR employment letter OR local government taxes) Photocopy of passport (photo and biological information) If you are already in the US with a valid F1 student visa, the following documents must also be submitted if applicable: Photocopy of most recent US visa Photocopy of I-94 (front & back, unless electronically issued) Photocopy of any US port of entry stamp in passport Request for F-1 Status Transfer Information (if transferring from another U.S. school) Photocopy of all previous I-20 forms and/or Change of Status Approvals All applicants must email or mail the immigration documents to: Kean University, Center for International Studies, CAS - 121 1000 Morris Ave., Union, NJ 07083-0411 Email: cis@kean.edu Sponsors must submit official documentation as evidence of ability to support the international applicant. The required documentation includes bank statements, proof of employment and official verification of annual salary. All documents submitted must support your ability or the sponsor s ability to pay tuition and fees. All statements must reflect United States currency conversions. Statements not reflecting United States currency conversions will be returned. Statements should also be no older than six months from the begin date of the semester student is applying. Step 4: Receive I-20 form from CIS and Apply for F-1 Student Visa - Within 2 weeks, receive I-20 with instruction to apply for your student visa - Housing Information will be included in this packet - Immunization requirements and Health forms - Welcome Guide and steps for Class Registration

AFFIDAVIT OF SUPPORT FOR SPONSOR This form and supporting financial documents must be submitted with the admissions application. All documents must be translated in English and currencies stated in U.S. dollars. If you have more than one sponsor, each sponsor must complete this affidavit indicating their level of support. Please note the total of all sponsorship must equal or exceed the amount shown the signature page of this affidavit. If you are living on the dormitory or renting a room, the full total expenses need to be reflected on the statement.
