MAY 2017 St. John Bosco s Monthly Newsletter Principal s Message Easter break is always a time to rejuvenate and spend time with friends and family. Now that we are refreshed we are able to complete all the work we require as we are now into the final two months of the 2016-17 school year. It will be busy and full, but at the end we hope everyone will have achieved to the best of their ability. After Easter we focus on God's grace. Jesus gave his life for us so that we can come to know his presence and feel the grace of his actions. No matter what Grace can help us forgive ourselves and those who surround us. We must try to remember that God's promise = Grace. Staff and students are participating in the 'Get Active' challenge. Please sign up. Many of us (staff, parents, students) have work that is sedentary. The 'Get Active' challenge will get us off our chairs and get moving. Consider signing up with St. John Bosco or just sign up. Here is the St. John Bosco link: https://www.getoutgetactivepcn.com/invite/4079483116 Graduation ceremonies are approaching. All students who are taking courses at St. John Bosco should be at the 1/2 way point in their courses by May 1, 2017. By May 15, 2017, students should be 75% complete courses. ALL students must potentially be able to earn their diploma at the end of the semester. Please ask your student if they have everything that they require. Please call the school if you are unsure. We do not want parents to invite friends and family if their student has not completed the work they need to. Student's graduating and their parents must sign a form indicating that they understand that there is zero tolerance for drug or alcohol use. Graduation is a school event, thus drugs and alcohol use are not permitted. Administrators will remove students from the ceremonies if students indulge in this practice. There will be an RCMP presence at the event to ensure the safety of everyone in our community. Please help our students make responsible choices. Once graduation is complete, students have limited time before diploma examinations. Please refer to the diploma exam schedule included in this newsletter. GRAD FEES AND SCHOOL FEES ARE NOW PAST DUE. PLEASE MAKE ARRANGEMENTS WITH MRS. GER- MANN OR CARRIE TO TAKE CARE OF THEM. Thanks

VIRTUAL SUMMER SCHOOL We will NOT be offering summer school in the manner we have in the past. We will offer virtual summer school. We will hire appropriate personnel, which will be dependent upon what students require for courses. Students will work on courses online, with teacher online support. There will be no access to 'face-to-face instruction. SUMMER SCHOOL will be limited to: 1. CORE courses only -Courses that students have failed in the year prior. -Upgrading course marks 2. Students wishing to 'fast track' may do so as long as the course is NOT offered in the college system. 3. Religion will NOT be offered. *** Students must pay a $100 NON-REFUNDABLE summer school fee by JUNE 28, 2017. (The only exception is if the course is not offered). IF we do not have a high enough enrolment, virtual summer school may not be offered.
