Thursday 31th of August, 2017 On Tuesday, the students of Room 3.05 went to visit the historic Collingwood Police Station in Abbotsford where they were taken on a tour of the police station. Students learnt about the history of policing in Collingwood, iconic crime characters such as Chopper Reid and Squizzy Taylor, community safety, road safety and the importance of community helpers. The students participated in a range of activities including a mock arrest, finger printing, sitting in a Highway Patrol vehicle and on a motorbike, and a BBQ provided by the police station. The excursion was a fantastic opportunity to foster a positive relationship and to break down any barriers between our students and the Victorian Police Force. A huge thank you to the members of the Collingwood Police Station for organising an engaging and informative excursion for our students.
A BIG thank you again to the Berwick Woodwork Group for once again volunteering their time on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday to work with our students to build a timber gift for their dad. A great big THANK YOU to Gayle and her team of fantastic chefs for making the woodwork volunteers morning tea and lunch. It was much appreciated by everyone.
Officer Specialist School is collecting stickers for the Woolworths Earn and Learn program this year. If you or anyone from your family shop at Woolworths please remember to collect the stickers each time you shop. Work together with your family, friends and neighbours to complete a sheet of stickers and bring it into school with your name on the sheet. For students who fill a page of stickers and bring them to school there will be a raffle at the end of each week during assembly. Each time you put a sheet into the collection box your name goes into the draw again. Classes are able to work together and enter into the competition as well, all stickers are welcome so if you cant fill a sheet on your own please bring them along and add them to other peoples nearly finished sheets to help our school! The more sheets of stickers we fill as a school the more money we have to put towards new resources for our school! Start collecting and good luck!
