Pre-test Activities Student Preparation ACT WorkKeys Preparation (https://www.act.org/content/act/en/products-and-services/workkeysfor-employers/assessments/preparation.html) for more information on o The curriculum o Preparing for the tests (including FREE sample items) o The National Career Readiness Certificates (NCRCs) o Understanding their scores. There are also FREE Online Practice Tests (there is a charge for the 1.0 practice tests but the 2.0 practice tests are FREE). The sample items and the online practice test contain the same item types and stimuli as the paper tests the students will take in April. 7
Pre-test Activities Select Qualified Staff using the guidelines in the Administration Manual School Test Coordinator Substitute School Test Coordinator Room Supervisor Proctor(s) Mandatory training before test day
Verify Receipt of Test Materials Within 24 hours of delivery, the School Test Coordinator must open and verify the receipt of all test materials using the packing list After counting materials, reseal cartons with provided tape Sign your name across the seal Store in a secure location using the Two-Lock Rule: two locks separate the general public from the test materials Retain cartons for return shipment Order additional test materials if necessary Only the School Test Coordinator and Substitute Test Coordinator can access secure test materials before test day Call ACT immediately at 800.553.6244, ext. 2800 if there is a security breach at any time
Complete the Non-Test Portions of the Answer Documents Must be completed before test day School staff: Apply barcode labels to the back of the answer documents, upper right corner. All answer documents must have a barcode label, no exceptions! Complete Block 26 (Local Items) using State Use Questions in the Administration Supplement Students: Blocks 1, 2, and 4 through 15 Name, DOB, Demographic, and Address fields DO NOT complete Block 18!!!!! 10
Prepare Testing Rooms Average 15-30 standard-time examinees in each room Arrange seating so there is a minimum of 3 ft. between examinees Plan appropriately for students with accommodations Cover test-related bulletin boards Use 2 reliable timepieces (not a cell phone!) Ensure Room Supervisor has access to a phone Must be kept on silent! Ensure proper lighting, temperature, and ventilation Prepare posters, cards, and admissions materials Schools may provide students with: No. 2 pencils with erasers Pencil sharpener Permitted calculators if you choose 11
