A big thank you to all the parents who assisted with carpooling for the divisional round at Mornington. Here is a photo of the winning team after the final that day. Well done boys! ART THE SURFER (BY GRADE 5) - CONT.. BRILLIANT BLAKE TAKES OUT INAUGURAL DISTRICT GOLF DAY Settlers Run hosted our first ever District Sports Golf Day. An initiative from Mr Birnie had 12 students from around our district competing in a 9 hole competition. It came down to the wire but Blake Mc Intosh took out a joint first place. With other students representing Woodlands PS, James Beekman, Harley Callahan, Harvey Smith, Jordan Winter also putting in fantastic performances. Last week the Year One students had a special artist visit us to share her expertise in drawing and painting. Our very own Mrs Kerry Hann brought in her beautiful artworks to share with us. She also showed the students some very special skills that can be used during our classes. The students were amazed at her beautiful oil paintings she has finished. She brought in a massive canvas. We drew our own birds, painted them and printed them onto the canvas. ART ROOM NEWS You are a very talented artist Mrs Hann and we hope you can visit our room again in the near future. From Mrs Block and the Year One students. 5

GIRLS FOOTBALL DAY COMES TO WOODLANDS On Friday the 17 th of November the year 5 and 6 girls, yes girls, participated in a district footy tournament against Pearcdale, Langwarrin Park and Langwarrin Primary School. We started the day with Langwarrin Primary on the soccer pitch doing a skills clinic. Mr. Birnie taught us a 5 star handball drill followed by some kick to kick drills. Our first game was against Langwarrin. They were giants. Girls from both sides were flung around everywhere. It was carnage. Liv tackled one of the Langwarrin amazons but ended up flying through the air and landing on her butt. We were brave and exhausted in defeat. The crowd started to build for our next game against Langwarrin Park. Our fitness was tested to the max because our next game was within minutes of the first. There were many goals scored in that game. The team started uniting and getting to know each other. The Woodlands girls were very encouraging towards each other and after all our hard work and effort we managed pull together for our first win. After our recent win we were pumped and ready for our final game against Pearcdale. We showed off our brilliant skills in that game. The Woodlands Girls were taking over the score board. We were marking all over Pearcdale and kicking amazing goals. Bonnie even took a specky! CONGRATULATIONS NATE DARKO Nate Darko from 6B is a very keen BMX rider. On the weekend he competed in the Wyndham, Victorian BMX State Championships, in the under 12 year old age group. He also raced against many interstate riders. Nate came 4th on the day, he is now ranked 4th in the state. We d like to thank Mr. Dowling, Mr. Birnie and all the other teachers that helped on the day. A GREAT DAY WAS HAD BY ALL. By Hayley Meddings and Liv Ponchard What a massive achievement, congratulations Nate! 6
