Legend: IDC 4U0 Sports and Entertainment Marketing: This course is designed for students interested in entertainment, sports, and event marketing. Emphasis is placed on the media, economics, and licensing which drives modern marketing and the growing entertainment industry. (Preferred Prerequisites: any of BMI3C0 Marketing or BAF3M0 Accounting IDC 309 and IDC 4U9 Yearbook Interdisciplinary Studies Course: These single credit interdisciplinary production courses provide students with strong written communication and strong visual design or communication technology skills, the opportunity to plan, promote and produce the school yearbook within a curricular setting. Emphasis is placed on honing written and visual communication skills, computer-based graphic design skills, marketing and team collaboration. This course is for the student with a special interest in literature, with a central focus on sports writing and media. Generally, students in the ESL program choose and complete two (2) ESL courses per academic year until they have finished ESL level D or E. Students enrolled in this program are entitled to accommodations such as extra time for tests, exams and standardized assessments. English language learners may also receive additional assistance by choosing Subject Support Courses. These sections are suitable for students in beginner to intermediate levels (ESL levels A, B or C).

HEALTH AND WELLNESS SPECIALIST HIGH SKILLS MAJOR (SHSM) The Health and Wellness SHSM program at Mississauga S.S. is a specialized program that builds a foundation of sectorfocused knowledge and skills before graduating and entering apprenticeship training, college, university, or the workplace. It incorporates the disciplines of Health and Physical Education, Science, Math, English, Social Sciences and Humanities, and Co-op in the customizing of a secondary school education to help students focus on a career path in the health and wellness sector. The program provides exciting opportunities for students to gain valuable industryrecognized skills, career-relevant training, sector specific training and certifications, experiential learning, and reachahead opportunities that relate to the chosen post-secondary pathways at colleges, universities, apprenticeships, and the workplace. Students who complete this Ministry of Education approved program earn the SHSM red seal on their high school diploma. In order to complete this SHSM in Health and Wellness, students must: 1. Complete a bundle of 9 specific courses (see chart below); 2. Complete Sector Certifications and/or training programs; 3. Participate in experiential learning and career exploration activities within the sector (e.g. workshops, guest speakers, career forums, job shadowing, job twinning); 4. Gain Reach Ahead experiences connected to the student s post-secondary plans (e.g. college and university tours). The chart below is a general pathway guide. SHSM students may complete courses from any pathway and are not limited to the courses listed under each pathway.
