Topics include the impact of suburbia and automation; the changing American diet; the effects of the sugar and agricultural lobbies on American eating habits; the rise of fast and prepared foods; the demise of home economics and domestic cooking; the rise of two-career and single-parent households; the breakdown of dining norms; and the balkanization of American eating habits. I pay particular attention to recent research in the limits of rational behavior, impulse control, and addiction. I hope to have a completed manuscript by mid-2017.
