We believe that a student's attendance directly correlates to their academic success. Due to the amount of students that are choosing not to come to school the following has been put into place for juniors and seniors, since they have the largest decrease in attendance. The following consequences are targeted at minimizing the number of unexcused absences. We are asking for your help by getting students to school each day. If your child must be absent please make sure to send a parent's or doctor's note for us to have on file in the attendance office, so your child will not miss out on any of the opportunities below. This information will be provided to students this Friday during their homeroom class. Seniors Students must be in attendance 95% of the time starting Monday, Feb. 26th till the end of the school year (cannot have more than 3 unexcused absences from Feb. 26th till the end of the school year). If a student has 3 or more unexcused absences in one or more classes it will result in the following consequences: Loss of current open period(s). If all makeup hours are not completed and turned in by May, 18th at 3:00 p.m., students will not be eligible to walk during graduation. Student will not be able to attend the Typhoon Texas senior trip. (If a student skips classes and attends the trip, they will be placed in ISS upon returning to school and receive an unexcused absence). Student will not be able to attend Club Day. Students will not qualify for spring final exam exemptions. Students and parents may be filed on with the court. If a student must miss school they need to turn in a parent's or doctor's note to the attendance office upon return. Students are still required to complete makeup hours if they exceed the absences allowed each semester whether they are excused or unexcused absences.

Campus Safety Parents, At Alvin High School, we are continually reviewing our security procedures to ensure your student is safe when they are with us. You may have noticed that we recently closed the gates around our campus, and we ve done this to limit the access points so we can better monitor students. When your student arrives on campus, he or she should enter through the front entrance or the FAC gate closest to the student parking lot. If you need to pick up your student or drop something off during the day, please take care of that through the front office. If you ever have a concern or question, please let us know.
