LONDON, England - Immerse yourself in a life-enriching experience Spend the Summer in London with ACCENT and the Coast Community College District (Golden West College). Explore London as it becomes an extension of your classroom while you study History 135/British History (UC & CSU credits) with Professor Moore. You will attend class at the ACCENT Study Center and live in shared apartments in central London. The ACCENT London Study Center also provides support and guidance on living in London. This program includes field trips to Brighton and Hampton Court Palace, a river trip to Greenwich, and theater evenings including Shakespeare s Globe. Questions? Contact: Prof. D. With more than 20 years of experience coordinating high-quality overseas study programs, ACCENT works in partnership with U.S. colleges and universities to develop academically challenging and culturally enriching overseas study experiences in Paris, Florence, London, Istanbul, Madrid and Rome. Each city is home to a fully staffed ACCENT Center that serves as a home base for program participants. The ACCENT San Francisco Center coordinates program enrollment and pre-departure preparation for students, helping to make their transition to living overseas as smooth as possible. The ACCENT London Study Center is located in Bedford Square, in the heart of the Bloomsbury neighborhood in Central London. The ACCENT Study Center is close to most public transportation including the London underground, St. Pancras International Station for connections to Paris and Brussels, as well as convenient bus routes to the West End and the City. The British Musuem, The University of London and the British Library are all within easy walking distance. The ACCENT Study Center is open during the week for students to use the resource/lending library, computer lab, wireless connectivity and study annex. The ACCENT staff in London provides a wide variety of on-site student services and is an invaluable resource for students who want to find out more about their host city.

Application and Enrollment The Summer in London program is open to anyone over 18 at the time of application. Program space is limited. Students should send in the enclosed application with the $250 non-refundable first payment as soon as possible. Upon receipt of your application and first payment, ACCENT and Golden West College will send you additional application and enrollment forms. Applications must be received by April 17, 2015. Beyond April 17, limited enrollment is allowed when space permits. Program Faculty DAVE MOORE, Golden West College Teacher of the Year for 2009, was born and educated in England. He earned a BA (Hons) at the University of Greenwich (London) and MA at the University of Newcastle upon Tyne. A well traveled history educator and published author (The Other British Isles, McFarland, 2005) he taught for many years in the UK before teaching in the USA under a Fulbright sponsorship. Program Timetable Application due: with first payment Final payment due: April 17 Departure from U.S.: June 26 Arrival in London: June 27 Overseas orientation: June 29 Classes begin: June 30 Return to U.S.: July 27 He has been a full-time professor at Golden West since 1991. This is his eleventh consecutive year leading the CCCD program to London having previously led programs to Cambridge (1996) and Florence (2000 & 2003). Academic Curriculum The Summer in London program is offered for transferable college credit through Golden West College, part of the Coast Community College District. Golden West College will provide a transcript upon request for the coursework completed overseas. Students earn 3 transferable college credits UC/CSU. History 135: History of Britain (3 units) We will explore pivotal events, personalities and ideas since the late medieval age. Prominent historical sites in London will be identified and explained. The course includes hands-on history field trips as well as lecture-discussion. London is your classroom! Course taught by Professor Moore. Transfer credit: UC & CSU.

Program Price: $3,890 (based on 20-24 participants) plus a $100 refundable security deposit Program Price Includes Double or triple rooms in student apartments in central London Two one-day field trips to Brighton and Hampton Court and one half-day field trip to Greenwich, including transportation A visit to the Churchill War Bunker Several class time field trips Two theater performances including one at Shakespeare s Globe Theatre Pre-departure and overseas orientation program and welcome reception Overseas information and resource center with ACCENT London on-site staff Zone 1 & 2 London transportation pass Transfers from and to the London airport for group flight participants Program Price Does Not Include Round-trip airfare (estimated airfare: $1650 - $1800) Tuition fees for History 135 Meals Required CCCD medical insurance (see description) Personal expenses, books, passports, visas, and anything not listed as included Travel and personal property insurance Transportation All participants must check-in at the ACCENT London Center June 27, 2015 between 9am and 5pm (Note: most transatlantic flights depart one day before their arrival date). ACCENT will organize an optional round-trip group flight from Los Angeles. Airfare is not included in the program fee. Group flight participants will be met at the airport in London and transferred to their housing. Group flight participants returning to the U.S. on the group return date will receive transportation to the London airport. Participants on the Summer in London program will receive detailed optional group flight information approximately four months prior to departure. Estimated airfare $1650- $1800. Payment Schedule Non-refundable first payment $250 Final payment due April 17, 2015 $3,740 The above breakdown includes the $100 refundable security deposit. The payment schedule is the applicant's contractual obligation. Failure to make payment when due shall automatically cancel participant from the program one week after payment due date. All payments are effective the day they are received by the ACCENT San Francisco Center. ACCENT, in its sole discretion, may reinstate an applicant subject to availability of space and late enrollment fees. ACCENT charges a $30 bounced check fee for each check received that is not promptly paid by your bank in the normal course of business. Student Housing Students live in double or triple rooms in shared student apartments, centrally-located in London mostly in Bloomsbury, Holborn, Clerkenwell and adjacent neighborhoods. The ACCENT Center is no more than a 20-30 minute walk or 10 minute bus ride from the apartments. Apartments include fully-equipped kitchens, televisions and telephones. CCCD Tuition & Fees Academic credit for this program is awarded by Golden West College. A $46 per unit enrollment fee must be paid to the college at the time of registration. Nonresidents of California pay an additional $214 per unit. Fees are set by the State of California and are subject to change. For more information, please contact Professor David W. Required Medical Insurance All program participants are required to purchase short-term outbound study abroad medical insurance through an approved District insurance provider. Program participants can find further information on the required study abroad medical insurance at http://www.cccd.edu/studyabroad/about.aspx. Program participants must purchase this study abroad medical insurance no less than 60 days prior to program departure. Failure to purchase the required study abroad medical insurance shall prevent student from participating in the study abroad program. Cancellations All cancellations must be made in writing to ACCENT and Dave Moore at Golden West College and are effective the date of receipt by ACCENT. Participants are liable for payments until written cancellation is received. Cancellation Fees: 71 days or more prior to start of program $250 50 to 70 days prior to start of program $750 30 to 49 days prior to start of program $1,000 15 to 29 days prior to start of program $2,000 0 to 14 days prior to start of program No Refund ACCENT, and not the Coast Community College District, is responsible for all travel arrangements and any liability arising therefrom. The Coast Community College District is NOT liable for any damages arising out of the services described herein, including, but not limited to any promises or representations, whether expressed or implied. Nothing contained herein shall be construed to in any way bind the District, the District Governing Board, any of their agents, employees or representatives to any promises, obligations, covenants or duties whether expressed or implied herein. ACCENT is not responsible for the academic segment of the program except as specified in the contract between ACCENT and the Coast Community College District. Nor is ACCENT responsible for airline delays of any kind, or for expenses or loss incurred as a result of such delays. With regard to transportation/travel, regardless of the type of vehicle, ACCENT acts for the passenger as agent only.
