First Monday Job Corner: Drop us a line if there is a job opening you need to fill at your church (and please let us know if you want it continued in future months we are only running ads month by month, so need to know if your church wants it continued). Church Organist: Monroe Presbyterian Church is seeking a monthly church organist, beginning in October. The church has blended worship services, with a once a month, "hymn sing" Sunday and an organist on that day (the day is not important in our search and we can accommodate any schedule). For more information or to apply, contact the church at 513-539-7170 or by email at monroepc@cinci.rr.com (Sue Ellen Hodgson). Queries can also be addressed to J. Kevin Laughlin at 513-376-0826 or by email at jkevin.laughlin@gmail.com Please note that the Presbytery website also lists some area job hunting assistance. If you know of somebody in your congregation that needs some help looking for their next job, please share that information with them. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Churches are invited to share programs, job openings, and news with other churches of the presbytery. Just email print ready information to tom.oxley@miamipresbytery.org. Churches are asked to create and maintain a file for copies of presbytery meeting packets for a two year period. This should help with answering any questions that congregation members may ask of church staff regarding actions taken at presbytery meetings. As of this writing, packets are available at http://www.miamipresbytery.org/pmv_presby_docs.htm back through the March special meeting of 2013.

Top Theologians Coming to the Presbytery of the Miami Valley Dr. Christine Roy Yoder, Theologian in Residence Saturday, Sept. 17, 2:00 4:00 p.m. Westminster Presbyterian Church, 125 N. Wilkinson St., Dayton, 45402 Free and easy parking in WPC Parking Lot, entrance on First Street. All Ruling Elders, Teaching Elders, Educators, Learners and Friends Warmly Invited to attend this rare opportunity! The Tree of Life: An Introduction to Old Testament Wisdom Literature The wisdom literature of ancient Israel (Proverbs, Job, and Ecclesiastes) invites us into an age old and ongoing conversation about what is good and wise in life. How do we discern right from wrong in a world of fiercely competing claims? What values do we treasure and why? What makes for strong families and just communities? How do we understand money, the power of speech, the realities of suffering, and the inevitability of death? And how do we teach it all to our children? This course explores how the Israelite sages address these and other complexities of everyday life, the formation of moral character, and what it means to fear the Lord. Christine Roy Yoder received her B.A. from Swarthmore College and her M.Div. and Ph.D. from Princeton Theological Seminary. A teaching elder in the PC(USA), she serves as Interim Dean of the Faculty and Vice President of Academic Affairs and Professor of Old Testament at Columbia Theological Seminary in Decatur, GA.
