Mandarin Presbyterian Church 2014 Next Generation Summer Intern Job Description CHURCH DESCRIPTION MPC is a 1600 member congregation whose mission is loving people to love Jesus Christ. Our goals are: Loving our Next Generation to love Christ! -Inviting kids and students to be in a relationship with Jesus Christ -Connecting kids and students with the church and others to grow as fully devoted followers of Christ -Equipping kids and students to serve and impact the world -Encouraging parents and families to grow in faith together PURPOSE The primary purpose of the internship is to be a learning opportunity through relational ministry to children and middle and high school students. Interns will spend time in all areas of Next Generation ministries but will each focus on a specific age group. This experience provides interns a chance to gain practical ministry training, work in an atmosphere of personal and professional guidance and support, test their gifts and call to vocational ministry, and develop spiritually and theologically. RESPONSIBLE TO Interns will be directly responsible to a Staff Director INTERNSHIP DESCRIPTION/EXPECTATIONS Present the Gospel of Jesus Christ to children and youth and encourage them in their Spiritual growth Work with Children s and Student Ministry staff to plan and carry out activities (summer camps, Bible Studies, weekly programs, special events etc...) Develop relationships with children, youth, parents and volunteers through individual and group contact, mail, e-mail and phone Meet weekly for study, prayer, planning, evaluation and communication Lead activities and events when the Children and/or Youth staff is away on mission trips or camps. Accompany the Directors on some summer camps and trips Maintain personal, spiritual and professional growth Responsible for administrative tasks as needed

REQUIREMENTS Growing personal relationship and commitment to Jesus Christ, the body of Christ, and God s work in the world. Ability to work effectively with children and students in focus area of ministry Have completed at least 1 year of college or equivalent for middle school/children s ministry intern and 2 years for high school intern Background Check TIME COMMITMENT Full time (approx. 40+ hours per week) 10 week summer assignment June 2 nd August 10 th, 2014. Hours will include some nights and weekends depending on scheduled activities Children s Ministry intern will require working every Sunday Internship term will be from June thru August with specific dates to be determined COMPENSATION/BENEFITS Stipend of $2,625.00 for the term of the internship. Room and board with a host family (as needed). Reimbursement for direct ministry expenses in accordance with church policies and budget guidelines EVALUATONS The Overseeing Director and Next Generation Pastor will provide an assessment of performance during the internship and at the end of the assignment.
