Board Room INTRODUCTION The Methodist Hospital Research Institute building comprises 440,000 square-feet of space dedicated to translating laboratory research into treatments and cures for the Methodist Hospital patients and patients around the world. The Research Institute is physically connected to the Methodist Hospital and centered in the heart of the Texas Medical Center to streamline the development of translational advances and clinical trials. The building includes 150,000 square feet of lab space, a virtual hospital Mezzanine and research operating rooms, a dedicated imaging research suite, cutting edge microscopy equipment, a cyclotron and cgmp space for the production of medical-grade radioisotopes. The building also includes stateof-the-art conference facilities for meetings and events.
Second floor mezzanine BREAKOUT ROOMS Breakout rooms, equipped with videoconferencing, are available in the Research Institute building and steps away in the adjacent Dunn Conference Center in the main hospital building. A boardroom, contiguous to the auditorium, accommodates up to 70 people and can be used for overflow. ACCOMMODATIONS The Research Institute is connected by enclosed crosswalks to the Marriot Texas Medical Center and is within short walking distance of several hotels that offer room blocks for Research Institute events. It is also on the METRO bus and Outside auditorium light rail systems, which provide easy access to Texas Medical Center institutions and attractions around Houston. TRAVEL Air travel to Houston is serviced by the Bush Intercontinental Airport (IAH) and William P. Hobby Airport (HOU). Bush offers more than 700 flights daily from 170 domestic and international destinations.
Auditorium MAIN AUDITORIUM The auditorium has capacity for 267 people and a large mezzanine to accommodate poster presentations, receptions and breaks. The room is fully equipped with integrated videoconferencing, web broadcasting and recording equipment. Two large flat-panel screens also provide live feeds of auditorium proceedings to the mezzanine. Poster sessions on mezzanine level CONFERENCE SERVICES The Methodist Hospital s audio/ visual support and conference staff are on hand for dedicated assistance. On-site catering is available for meals and refreshments. The Research Institute also offers valet and selfparking options.
