6) We require all students to complete a three year sequence of Algebra I, Geometry and Algebra II. For strong mathematics students, a complete course in Trigonometry is included in an Algebra II Honors course. Advanced courses and electives are available to students who have satisfactorily completed the required sequence. Our advanced courses include a variety of offerings in Pre-Calculus, Non AP Calculus, AP Calculus (AB) and AP Calculus (BC). Admission Procedure & Financial Information Your initial step in applying to Blair is to complete this application. Every prospective student must also fulfill certain testing requirements. All candidates for the 9th and 10th grades are required to take the Secondary School Admission Test (SSAT) or the Independent School Entrance Exam (ISEE). Candidates for 11th grade must submit SSAT, PSAT or SAT scores. Candidates for the postgraduate year must take the Scholastic Aptitude Test (SAT) or the American College Test (ACT). Registration information for all testing may be acquired through the Office of Admission. Applicants from foreign countries are expected to take one of the above-mentioned examinations in addition to an appropriate test of their ability to communicate in English, which is the TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language). Application deadline is January 15, 2018. SSAT: School Code 1720 For info: www.ssat.org TOEFL: School Code 9415 For info: www.toefl.org Families interested in applying for financial aid should complete Part I and Part II of the Application for Admission as soon as possible. Upon receipt of Part I and Part II, the Office of Admission will forward you the remaining materials required to process your financial aid application. A completed application for financial aid must include: a copy of the Parents Financial Statement (PFS) submitted to School and Student Services (SSS), IRS Form 4506, 2016 and 2017 Federal Tax Returns with all attached schedules, 2016 and 2017 W-2s, and the business/farm supplement if applicable. These materials should be received no later than January 15, 2018. Requests for assistance are reviewed by the Financial Aid Committee, and the first awards are granted beginning March 10, 2018. Federal tax returns for 2018 should be forwarded when complete but no later than April 30, 2018. Financial aid awards are renewed on a yearly basis. Parents of recipients must submit the Parents Financial Statement and a copy of their 1040 tax forms before January 15 to complete the application for the following academic year. Students will continue to receive financial aid only if they have performed academically at a level commensurate with their ability and have been positive, contributing members of the school community. Visiting the school and meeting Blair students and faculty provide an opportunity to gain an intimate sense of our school community. Financial Aid Financial Aid is awarded on the basis of demonstrated financial need. Each year applicants for financial aid outnumber the grants available; thus, the Financial Aid Committee must make awards on a competitive basis to those qualified students who are truly most deserving of financial assistance. The annual charge for day students is $40,500, which covers tuition, study rooms and meals at school Monday through Saturday. Deposits will be required in the student s debit card account to cover purchases of textbooks and supplies, personal items from the athletic store, campus center, activities and health center charges. There are additional fees for art courses, music lessons, driver s education, special testing, class trips and other items. Some fees will be required in advance, and others will be billed.
