GOLDEN EAGLE NEW STUDENT ORIENTATION SCHEDULE AUGUST 8 TH -10 TH, 2016 Monday, August 8 th 2016- Day 1 8:00am-5:00pm Move-In/Check-In/Registration//Hammer Center Please make sure you have registered at orientation.oru.edu. New student check-in will begin at 8:00am and will go to 5:00pm. Enter in through University Blvd. You will receive a parking pass for lower lot. Proceed to the Hammer Center to receive your key, ORU shirt, orientation schedule, and meal ticket. If you live in Gabrielle Salem Residence Hall, you will check in at the residence hall lobby. Late arrivals can go to the Hammer Center from 5:00pm to 10:00pm. Your top three priorities are: 1) Getting your key in the Hammer Center and moving in. 2) Making sure you are registered: a. Handle all Financial Aid b. Receive your ORU I.D c. Pick up your FitBit d. Receive your Parking Permit e. Receive your Class Schedule f. Meet your roommate 3) Go to a connect group to get involved with all that ORU offers. Once you ve finished moving in please move your car to Upper Lot (H Lot) and our Golden Eagle Transit will bring you back to campus. *If you have any questions concerning anything listed above you can go to the Hammer Center at the Information table. 11:00am-11:30am Information Panel//Hammer Main Floor Meet with the Student Life staff to see what being a student at ORU is really all about. 11:00am- 5:00pm Connect Groups// Hammer Center-Various These are groups that will get you connected with people just like you. Whether you are a transfer, commuter, or confused, these are designed to give opportunities to know you are not the only one. Meeting new people is the first step of getting involved and enhancing your experience right away. 11:00-11:30 Commuter Connect//2 nd floor of Hammer Center All commuters welcomed! This connect group brings new commuters and current commuters together. New commuters can meet new commuters and current commuters to see what life is like as a commuter at ORU.

11:30-2:00 Lunch//Dining Hall Lunch will be in the Dining Hall. **Parents are self-pay. We do have many places off campus that offer discounts for ORU parents and students. The list can be found in your Golden Eagle new student packet. 11:00-4:00 International Connect//International Center If you are coming from a country that is not the United States, you are welcome to attend our International Connect. Come meet other Internationals possibly from your own country or same continent. Current Internationals will be there that you can also meet. This is a great time to meet those are also coming to America for the first time. There will be an informational session about America and Tulsa, OK. Don t miss this awesome time to connect! Various Tours//Hammer Lobby Want to see more of the University? Tours will be happening throughout the day. Be sure to sign up and see what Oral Roberts himself saw 50 years ago from God. There is symbolism all over campus and every Golden Eagle needs to know about their nest! 2:00-2:30 Transfer Connect// 2 nd Floor Hammer If you are transferring, you already had the freshman experience. You are not a freshman. You are a college student who just made a better decision of where to go. We get that! So come meet transfers who want the exact same thing. Transfer only connect group will help you get acclimated a little easier with other transfers. 3:00-3:30 Commuter Connect//Hammer Living Room All commuters welcomed! This connect group brings together new commuters and current commuters together. New commuters can meet new commuters and current to see what life is like as a commuter. 3:00-3:30 Information Panel//Hammer Main Floor Meet with the Student Life staff to see what being a student at ORU is really all about. 4:30-6:30 Dinner//Dining Hall or various places around Tulsa. After connecting, moving, meeting, and emotional roller coasters dinner is the best idea to cope! Join us in the Dining Hall or go to a restaurant around Tulsa. Restaurants listed in your packet have specials for ORU parents! 5:30-6:30 Eagle leader Connect// Hammer Main Floor New students will connect with their Eagle Leader, who will be with them all week. They will also connect with other new students in their group who they will be with all week. *This is a student-only event! Don t worry parents! We have something and for you and you will see your child again. 7:00-8:00 Welcome Night//Christ s Chapel Join us for worship and a time in the Lord s presence as all of ORU new and current gathers together to sing praises and hear a word the will be brought by President Wilson. 8:00-10:00 Refreshments// Hammer Center

Tuesday, August 9 th 2016-Day 2 8:00-10:00 Farewell Brunch//Dining Hall This is a time for parents and students to say their goodbyes. Please join us in the Dining Hall for board games and squeeze every minute you can with your child. 10:30-11:00 Eagle Leader Connect//Hammer Center Leaders connect again new students to get organized for Golden Eagle 101. Meet your group and get reacquainted. 11:00-12:00 Golden Eagle 101//Howard Being a college student is one thing, being an ORU Golden Eagle is a complete different matter. Come enjoy learning about being what it means to be a Golden Eagle in 2016. 12:00-1:00 Lunch//Dining Hall Eat lunch with your new fellow Golden Eagles. 1:00-3:00 Academic Open House//Varies Don t know what you want to study at ORU? Come to these academic sessions and meet Deans and Professors of the college(s) you are interested in. If you do know what you want to study this will still be the perfect place for you to come and meet your future professors and classmates. **Go to GC 4 or GC 5 to find your college. 1:00-3:00 Library Tours//Library Have our Academic Peer Advisors give you a tour of our Library and Research Center!! It s always good to know how to find a book, article, periodical, or a website fast and easy! 3:00-4:30 The Eagle Games//Varies Compete for Golden Eagle pride! Come interact with fellow Golden Eagles and meet new people. 4:30-5:45 Dinner//Dining Hall Dinner will be in the Dining Hall or various places on and off campus. 6:00-8:00pm Golden Eagle 201//Howard There is so much to be involved in at ORU! Meet the coaches and players that you will be cheering on this year! 10:00-11:00 Golden Eagle 301//Howard You will learn about ORU Athletics and the importance of cheering on your school. School spirit is a big part of ORU so come join the traditions. 11:15-12:15 Athlete Connect//Varies Meet your fellow peers who are competing this year and want your support throughout the year! 12:30-1:45 Lunch//Dining Hall Lunch will be in the Dining Hall or various places on and off campus. 2:00-3:00 How to be successful//howard Come learn how to study the college way. Transitioning to college can be a big task and studying will look a little different. Come get a jumpstart on your academics by learning what resources are at your disposal. 3:00-4:00 Eagle Time//Varies Hear from students about what it means to be a good student and to study well. Our student leaders hold the secret of what it takes to be successful at ORU. 4:30-5:45 Dinner//Dining Hall Dinner will be in the Dining Hall or various places on and off campus. 8:00-9:00 Movie Night //J.L. Johnson Stadium Come party with ORU Athletics and other students as the Campus Awakens. Come immerse yourself in the presence of God and encounter the truth and revelation of Jesus through the Holy Spirit! See you there!
