Choose a (non-food/non-hygiene) product that you buy: 2. You have just been hired in the international division of a multinational corporation that makes to become an expert on other countries. Your recommendations will determine if the company will expand its sales to new countries. Your company is also considering building a branch plant to produce in these countries. 3. Your job is to prepare a report on three countries: one in Asia, one in Europe, and one in South America. To get the facts, you hop on the Web and start with the CIA Factbook of information about all countries. After following the links to the latest Factbook, you want to collect the following information for your report: Where is each country located and what is its physical size? Are they larger or smaller than the United States? What is the geography like? Will it impact sales/production? How many people live there? Since your company's product is sold to adults (or teens), how many adults live there? (Note: if this product is for a different age group, you need to research that age of population.) What are the main methods of transportation in these countries? Will this be a factor to consider? Compare their climates to the climate where you live. Are they hotter? Are they dryer? What kind of crops are grown there? Do they have resources available for production of your product? Are their governments democracies? If not, what are they? Who is the current head of the government? What impact will this have on sales or production? What kind of an economy does each country have? Answer each of the following: Is it primarily market-based, command, or traditional? Is it a rich or poor country? What is the GDP per capita? Compare this to your own country. What is the unemployment rate? Is unemployment a problem in this country? What are wages like? How will that impact production and sales? What is the country's money called? How much of your own country's money could you get for one of this country's unit of money? If your company put a branch operation there, would it be satisfied with the communications system?
