Standing Committee May elect one clergy and one lay nomination Elections Standing Committee serves as a council of advice to the bishop; approves various stages for people in the process toward ordination; considers requests from parishes to sell or encumber property; and in the absence of a bishop, serves as the diocesan ecclesiastical authority. It is made up of four clergy and four lay people for a total of eight members. Candidates are nominated at each of the eight regional assemblies each year and are elected by the Diocesan Convention. Central Montgomery County may nominate one lay person and one clergy person to stand for election to Standing Committee. These candidates will then be listed on the ballot for Standing Committee elections at Diocesan Convention in January. Alternate Deputies to General Convention May elect one clergy and one lay nomination The diocese elects four clergy and four lay alternate deputies to represent the diocese at the House of Deputies of the General Convention. The next General Convention of The Episcopal Church will be July 5 through July 13, 2018 at the Austin Convention Center in Austin, Texas. Alternate deputies are nominated at regional assemblies and are elected at diocesan convention. Central Montgomery County may nominate one lay person and one clergy person to stand for election. These candidates will then be listed on the ballot for General Convention alternate deputy elections at diocesan convention in January. 4

Closing Song and Blessing Christ has no body here but ours, No hands and feet here on earth but ours. Ours are the eyes with which he looks on this world with kindness. Ours are the hands with which he works, Ours are the feet on which he moves, Ours the voices with which he speaks To this world, with kindness. With our touch, our smile, our listening ear Embodied in us, Jesus is living here. Let us go now, filled with the Spirit Into this world, with kindness. St. Teresa of Avila/Brian McLaren Save the Date! The One Hundred Twenty-Third Diocesan Convention January 27 Pre-Convention Welcome January 26 A joyful night of renewal, jazz, food, fellowship, and conversation the evening before convention. 5
