Michael Pobat, who is also a member of our Lodge. RW Pobat gave an interesting talk on the Grand Master s priorities for 2011. He also gave a very encouraging talk on The Patriot Lodge and the promise it holds to introduce Masonry to the academic community and help build our membership in Virginia. His support for our new Lodge has really been great! We were also honored to have Wor. Brother Bryan Toye with us, all the way from London, as well as a brother from Bolivia. He is CEO of Toye, Kenning, and Spencer. This company has been making military and Masonic regalia since 1685! Their products are high quality - in fact, they will be supplying us with our custom green/gold aprons. We continue to work closely with Dr. Ted Kinnaman and the Philosophy Department. We re building a scholarship for graduate study, in particular in the area of ethics. (Continued next page)

Coming up in March March will be a very busy month for us! We will be having our March Stated on Thursday, 3/10 so that our meeting doesn t conflict with the Division Leadership Conference on Friday, 3/18. We have a special guest speaker, Dr. Patrick Mendis, a GMU professor and brother from Cherrydale Lodge. He will be speaking on his new book, Commercial Providence, and how it relates to our Masonic principles. There will also be a visit from our DEO, Wor. Don McAndrews. FROM THE SECRETARY Brethren, A reminder - if you haven t paid your 2011 levy yet, please do so. Your Lodge needs this money to operate for the upcoming year. You can pay for this on the Patriot website, or simply see me at the next Stated. I also highly encourage you to use the RSVP system for the monthly dinner. It makes things much easier on our Junior Warden, me, and the Master. Fraternally, Secretary Patriot Lodge, U.D. MASON INN HOTEL We will be having our regular Stated Communications at the hotel, where we can enjoy hospitality, excellent catered dinners, and the flexibility to stay overnight if necessary. We will hold our Called Communications at Acacia Lodge, Henry Lodge, and other local Lodges. Suggestions are welcome! LODGE RITUAL Lodge ritual practices will be held at the call of the Master based on the LIW s (Wor. Bro. Don McAndrews) available schedule. Please watch for these dates on the Lodge website and by e-mail. If you would like to participate in degrees, please contact the LIW. New Members We will vote on a new member in April and another one in May. Please remember that signers of all petitions will be required to personally know their candidate, be mentors and participate in his Masonic education. In addition, candidates will be required to attend at least two Patriot social functions, i.e. dinner, breakfast, or another GMU event, and become known to members before their petition is voted on. UPCOMING GMU EVENTS Please see this link for upcoming events in February http:// today.gmu.edu/month/2011/03 On Saturday, April 30th GMU will host its annual Relay for Life, which raises money for cancer research.
