Horton Mr. Guillermo Munoz, Principal Dates: October, 2013 November, 2013 A. Student Club Activities/Special Events AOHT Parent Open House, The 2013 Annual AOHT Parent Open House was a success. A record number of attendees, parents/ students, board members, and business partners were present. The academy officers and ambassadors assisted guests from the time of their arrival and throughout the evening. Special thanks to the students, Ms. Arteaga, Mr. Gonzalez/administrators in attendance and assisted with this years event. Kudos, to alumni guest speakers; Nohelia Melendez, Jamilleth Elizalde, and Anthony Brown. DECA Membership- To date, 47 students have paid their annual membership dues. October, Student of the Month, Dwayne Harrigan was surprised to say the least when Mr. Munoz, Principal, and Mr. Martinez showed up to the academy class and presented him with a Certificate of Achievement for maintaining academic excellence during the month of October. B. Curriculum Enhancement Guest Speaker, Mr. Terrance Dunn from Johnson & Wales University spoke to the 9 th and 10 th grades classes.. FCAT infusion in academy classes.

B. Curriculum Enhancement(continued) Essential and Higher Oder Thinking Strategy questions (HOTS) infused in classes. Industry Certification preparation infused in Academy classes. Ms. Terri Griffin, Guest Speaker via Digital Classroom live experiential learning activity with the Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship (NFTE) program spoke. Ms. Griffin spoke with students about Web-X & Business Etiquette. C. Field Trip[s] October 22 nd - DECA Leadership Breakfast at Parrot Jungle Island. Students attended the annual DECA Leadership Breakfast where they enjoyed a Business Etiquette Seminar presented by a representative with Men s Wearhouse. October 21 st - FAM/Miami Seaquarium, freshman and sophomore students attended their first experiential learning activity with representatives from the Miami Seaquarium.

Marketing Update, AOHT Students on the move Trivaris Feazall A senior, ran 3.1 miles in the Viper Invitational Cross Country event and placed ninth of seventy-nine participants. Leroy Argandona Selected as Senior Class President for the 2014 class, and is also Student Government Treasurer. Leroy was also present for the Miguel Cabrera (Detroit Tigers Baseball Team) & Ford Motor Company scholarship presentation to the HSHS Baseball Team.
