Class Spotlight Ms. Lavigne s 4 th Grade Class 4 th grade is GREAT! Students in 4 th grade love playing, talking, and doing all sorts of work like math, spelling, and social studies. The 4 th grade is working on addition properties and the students say it s really easy, and most say it s their favorite subject besides science. They have projects in the hall that they have been working on that are about the different regions of the United States and Owls to help students learn about adjectives. That s not all; they also have a butterfly collection inside their classroom. On their door they have little pockets with Popsicle sticks with their names on it assigning them their jobs such as pencil sharpener, line leader, class organizer, and bathroom monitor. Don t forget about the teacher, Ms. Lavigne. She is nice, calm, fun, and plays games with the 4 th grade students like I Have, Who Has which is a math game. Jeffrey B. Christina R.
All Saints Day Thanks to everyone who came out to support the All Saints Day Celebration. A special thanks to Ms. Susan Harris, Sr. Joseph, Mr. Parisher, Mrs. Silva, Mrs. Moore, all the teachers, parents, guests and students. All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. Although millions, or even billions of people may already be saints, All Saints' Day observances tend to focus on known saints --that is those recognized in the canon of the saints by the Catholic Church. All Saints' Day was formally started by Pope Boniface IV, who consecrated the Parthenon at Rome to the Virgin Mary and all the Martyrs on May 13 in 609 AD. Boniface IV also established All Souls' Day, which follows All Saints. The holy day was eventually established on November 1 by Pope Gregory III in the mid-eighth century as a day dedicated to the saints and their relics. The May 13 celebration was subsequently abandoned.
LEGO CLUB The Lego Club recently took a Field Trip to Waste Management Recycling Center s Education Classroom. The Club learned all about trash, the types and how much the average person generates, and what disposal or recycling options are available. Thanks to Ms. Sherrell Cordas and Waste Management for letting us learn more about trash for our Trash TREK challenge!
