The St Columba College Council presents TheStrategic Plan 2017-2019

2016 was an exciting time for the College as it celebrated its 20th year. The community can be very proud of the College s achievements during this time. At the heart of who we are is our identity as an Anglican and Catholic school with the aim to provide the best learning environment for every student. Our best means not just teaching information and skills, but forming our young people in mind, body and spirit. 2016 was a time to reflect on the past and establish directions for the future. The College Council worked closely with staff, students and the parent community to determine the future directions of the College. In a rapidly changing world we want our students to set their goals high and engage in the effort and with the focus required to achieve outstanding educational and personal success. The Strategic Plan 2017-2019 sets out how we will develop the attitudes, knowledge and skills students need now, beyond school and into the future. The Vision for Learning Empowering Compassionate Global Citizens will guide our teaching and learning and skill students to relate well to others, problem solve, think strategically, creatively and communicate effectively. We will develop our focus on Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) and provide opportunities for our students to participate in learning in the wider community including university and industry. Through our commitment to develop the whole person we provide a range of opportunities for hands on learning for our students including Physical Education and Sport, Drama, Art, Music, Food & Technology and Design & Technology. We will review our master plan to ensure we have contemporary learning environments into the future. We know student success is enhanced when they connect to the school and have a sense of belonging in the community. We work to ensure every student is known and that learning is tailored to meet the needs of each individual. Supporting the wellbeing of every child to flourish is a priority at St Columba College and our social and emotional learning programs will be further developed with the introduction of Positive Education. Providing opportunities for staff to learn together, collaborate and innovate will enable us to do this. Families and schools working in partnership enhances wellbeing and learning of students. We will continue to work with families to build authentic partnerships. The strategic directions are aligned with the Mission and Vision of the College as well as the newly developed Vision for Learning which underpins the learning culture for our students.
