About INTO Mason INTO Mason is a Joint Venture between two primary stakeholders George Mason University and INTO University Partnerships. INTO specializes in recruitment and business operations management. INTO Mason, a separate entity that is jointly owned by George Mason University, executes academic programs designed to increase the university s enrollment of international students primarily at the Mason Global Center. All students enrolled at INTO Mason are George Mason University students. The admissions criteria, curriculum and progression requirements are controlled by the colleges: All admissions decisions are made by University Admissions INTO Mason enforces curriculum and progression criteria and processes non-degree transfer of credit Recruitment Business Development & Operations Real Estate Building Management INTO Mason Integrated campusbased organization Execution of programs/experience MISSION STATEMENT As an integral member of the George Mason University Community, INTO Mason creates vibrant experiences for international students through transformational learning opportunities tailored to meet specific linguistic, academic and cultural needs. INTO Mason Student Support Systems INTO Mason has a wide array of student support systems which are specifically designed to support the academic, cultural, and linguistic needs of multilingual students. While INTO Mason collaborates closely with campus offices, the following services are provided as the initial and on-going resource support for students currently enrolled in INTO Mason academic programs. The presence of these support systems significantly tempers the use of particular university services (e.g., Writing Center) until students matriculate into degree status. Student Services The INTO Mason Student Services team provides a range of co-curricular programs and services promoting academic, social, and personal well-being. Upon arrival at Mason, the team helps students settle in to life in Fairfax and provides social opportunities and a variety of resources tailored to the specific needs of international students. Current Staff positions include: Director of Student Experience, Student Care and Conduct Coordinator, Housing & Arrivals Coordinator, Student Engagement Coordinator Learning Resource Center The INTO Mason Learning Resource Center provides English Language (reading, writing, listening, speaking, grammar, and vocabulary) and content-based tutoring, study materials, books, DVDs, and periodicals to INTO Mason students to support their academic success. Current Staff positions include: Learning Resource Center Specialists (3) Advising and Academic Services The department of Advising and Academic Services at INTO Mason provides full-service advising and academic affairs support to students enrolled in academic programs at INTO Mason. Their main goal is to facilitate the student s transition as they progress through their academic programs into degree status. Current Staff positions include: Assistant Director; Senior Advisor, Academic English; Senior Advisor, Undergraduate Pathways; Advisor, Graduate Pathways; Part-time Academic Advisors (2) NOTE: INTO Mason has also proposed providing outreach language support to the campus community (for direct admit students) as reported in the Multilingual Task Force Report (December 2015).
