Who Should Attend Purpose and Content Educational Objectives Credit Designation This conference is designed for neurologists, neurosurgeons and other physicians and health care providers interested in seizure and epilepsy, including diagnosis and therapy. The purpose of this conference is to provide up-to-date information on seizures and epilepsy and to provide a forum for the discussion of diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to link the educational objectives to Core Competencies (Medical Knowledge and Patient Care) and be able to: Describe how to treat status epilepticus Recognize the impact sleep disorders have on epilepsy Review issues related to pediatric epilepsy and surgery Examine the relationship between neuroendocrine systems and epilepsy Discuss the newer AEDs and their use in pediatrics and in pregnancy Evaluate various viewpoints regarding ethical/legal dilemmas faced in clinical practice The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity.
