Who Should Attend Purpose and Content Educational Objectives Credit Designation This conference is designed for neurologists, neurosurgeons and other physicians and health care providers interested in seizure and epilepsy, including diagnosis and therapy. The purpose of this conference is to provide up-to-date information on seizures and epilepsy and to provide a forum for the discussion of diagnosis and treatment of these disorders. Upon completion of this course, participants should be able to link the educational objectives to Core Competencies (Medical Knowledge and Patient Care) and be able to: Describe how to treat status epilepticus Recognize the impact sleep disorders have on epilepsy Review issues related to pediatric epilepsy and surgery Examine the relationship between neuroendocrine systems and epilepsy Discuss the newer AEDs and their use in pediatrics and in pregnancy Evaluate various viewpoints regarding ethical/legal dilemmas faced in clinical practice The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center designates this live activity for a maximum of 6.5 AMA PRA Category 1 Credit(s). Physicians should only claim credit commensurate with the extent of their participation in the activity. Accreditation The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center is accredited by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME) to provide continuing medical education for physicians. UT Southwestern University Hospitals is an approved provider of continuing nursing education by the Texas Nurses Association, an accredited approver by the American Nurses Credentialing Center s Commission on Accreditation. This activity provides 6 contact hours. Discussion of Off-Label Use Because this course is meant to educate physicians with what is currently in use and what may be available in the future, there maybe off-label use discussed in the presentations. Speakers have been requested to inform the audience when off-label use is being discussed. Registration The registration fee entitles the participant admission to the conference, all course materials, continental breakfast, lunch and refreshment breaks during the meeting. Enrollment is confirmed upon receipt of registration fee/ form. We are unable to process any registration without payment. Please register early.
