Music Teacher s Association of California San Mateo County Branch Newsletter May 2010 IN THIS NEWSLETTER: President s Pen Programs: Annual Luncheon May 21, 2010 Recital Hall: available times in June, 2010 Honors Recitals Certificate of Merit Membership Additional News Items: SMC Fair Piano Competition June 13, 2010 application deadline May 30, 2010 & Roster of Board Candidates President s Pen One aspect I like about being a private teacher and performer is the variety in my schedule from week to week and month to month. No boredom or stasis, just consistent change and variety! Now that CM is past, we can look forward to end of school year activities, recitals and summer plans. How exciting! There are a few MTA events to look forward to in May and June. We have our lunch at The Van s, the teacher recital program in June and then, the Convention in Los Angeles at themarriott. Keep reading this newsletter for details on those activities. Our Branch can have up to five delegates at Convention to attend business meetings and be a part of the process in helping to formulate the shape of MTAC. If you are planning to attend Convention July 2-6 this year and would like to be a

delegate, please contact me. We will pay your full registration fee in exchange for representing our Branch at the two business meetings. If you are planning to attend Convention, go to the state website and register. You can take care of all your registration online at mtac.org. This month, Deanna Du Bois, our corresponding secretary, will be sending the newsletter directly to your email address. For the last few months, she notified you when the newsletter is available on the website, but has not sent it directly to you. If you have missed the last few newsletters because you did not go to our website to read them, please do that now. It will catch you up on news that you missed! See you all May 21 at The Van s!! The keys to the pianos are always with the Community Center receptionist. After the pianos are locked, please return the keys to the receptionist. Moving the Pianos When you are finished using the pianos, it is your responsibility to move the pianos back to the original storage spots on the north wall. Leave the piano benches near the pianos.
