COMMERCIAL Over the years GCSI has completed numerous commercial projects, our most memorable was for the Virginia Institute of Marine Science- Abrahamson House. Work consisting of converting a single family home into a Commercial Multi-Resident ADA Accessible facility for staff, scientists, and visiting faculty. Work included ADA renovations to the first floor and porch areas, upgraded electrical, fire protection barriers and new fire alarm monitoring system, new flooring and fixtures, plumbing relocation along with a new concrete parking area just to name a few. To convert a home into a commercial building took time and patience. GCSI worked closely with the Owners. The project began with plans, however; almost every aspect became design build. HISTORICAL GCSI has performed numerous renovations projects on historical buildings throughout the years. The most exciting was the bell and bell tower restoration for the oldest African American Church - First Baptist Church, Williamsburg, Virginia. GCSI played a key roll in this project, constructing new platforms, access points and relocation of the bell to its new permanent location in the bell in the tower so it could once again ring.
