(from left) Renny, Anup, Sudhir, & Kumar along with children Perpetual Profession December 29 th, 2013, Feast of the Holy Family, was a day of Blessings to the District of India. Four Brothers, namely Bros. Anup Kullu, Kumaraswamy, Renny Markose, and Sudhir Soreng made their perpetual profession of vows in the assembly of a huge crowd at Nirmal Deep, Ranchi. Fr. Paul Marshal from the Provincial Administration of USA presided at the Eucharist & received their Vows. Priests from the neighborhood, people from Soparam parish, Pathrachawali parish, the Marianists Sisters, MLC members and the families of all our four brothers took part in this magnificent celebration. Thanks to the Novitate staff and the novices for organizing this event! Let us also wish these four brothers, a happy and blessed life among the Marianists.
2 Priestly Ordination On 22 nd of January 2014, on the feast day of our Founder. Bl. William Joseph Chaminade, there Deacons. Chinnaiah Polishetty, Chittibabu Gunja, and Varaprasad Nittamaria were ordained to the priesthood by Most. Rev. Bernard Moras, the Archbishop of Bangalore, at Deepahalli. Brothers from all the Marianists Communities, REDS staff, Professors from UD Deepahalli, some former Marianists, many religious from different parts of Bangalore and the families of our three brothers participated in this splendid celebration. Bro. Francisco Gonzalez, S.M., a member of the Provincial Council and President of the Marianist Colegio San Jose in Puerto Rico was the chief guest for the event. Fr. Pachi Canseco, the Rector of the Marianist International Seminary, Rome was also present on this day. It was Fr. Pachi s first visit to India. Having attended the celebration, Fr. Pachi, under the guidance of Fr. Dave Fleming traveled to Andhra Pradesh to take part in all the three thanksgiving celebrations and then to North. His main work will be in the carpentry division of the Training Center of REDS Deepahalli. He Bro. Gary Marcinowski
3 is a professor of Art at the University of Dayton and is an artist and craftsman in wood and other materials. A number of chapels in the USA Province have benefitted from his designs and achievements. He has already spent a number of hours with the young men of REDS and Mr. Soosai and will no doubt leave us with many valuable suggestions for the future when he leaves in March. Thanksgiving Celebrations Having been ordained on 22 nd of January, the three ordained brothers celebrated their First Mass in their native places. Fr. Varaprasad Nittamaria on 25 th, Fr. Chinnaiah Polishetty on 26 th and Fr. Chittibabu Gunja on 27 th celebrated their first Masses. Each ordained brother was welcomed in their parish in their traditional ways. Moreover, it was the time of experiencing Andhra spices for our Brothers from different communities who had gone for the First Mass Celebrations. In his first visit to India, Fr. Pachi had the real taste of Indian spices & the hot temperature of Andhra Pradesh. On 28 th January, Bro. Kumaraswamy, a newly perpetually professed brother held his thanksgiving Mass. The three newly ordained priests, Fr. Baskhar, Bro. Augustus Surin, the District Superior, and many other Marianists Brothers took part in this special and magnificent celebration. The brothers at Infant Nilaya and the REDS- Bangalore staff organized a welcome & thanksgiving celebration for Fr. Varaprasad, on 6 th February, 2014 at Infant Nilaya. It is significant that Fr. Varaprasad is the first Marianists priest to be a regular member of the Infant Nilaya Community. The brothers from St. Joseph s community and Chaminade Nilaya Community, the Council members & the REDS- Bangalore staff participated in the Eucharistic celebration. It is also the end of morning walks to Infant Jesus Church for the everyday Eucharist for the brothers in that Community.
4 Bro. Victor on CRI Panel On February 16, in Patna the CRI India is sponsoring a panel discussion on vocations. District Silver Jubilarian Bro. Victor Sahayaraj was asked to be one of three members on the discussion panel, representing religious of middle age. Congratulation Bro. Victor. What is mind? No matter. What is matter? Never mind. - Bertrand Russel Auditing The third term auditing both in North and South was successfully done during the last week of January. Thanks to all the brothers those who shared their time, energy & talents to make this auditing go well. Fr. Kip s Visa Renewal The Brothers at Chaminade Nilaya community along with the kitty near the kitchen were able to control their groaning over the absence of Fr. Kip in the next month. Fr. Kip, the Assistant for Temporality had gone to States for his visa renewal work. He will be back to the District on the 21st of March. We wish a good time to Fr. Kip during his stay in USA! The First-Year Professed will arrive at the Vidya Sagar Community on May 1 to begin their scholasticate studies. They will make their visits home in the previous week.
5 Spiritual Meetings Meeting of Temporary professed in active ministry (post-scholasticate): North Feb. 21-23, Nirmal Deep (Fr. Dave) Just as a candle cannot burn without fire, human cannot live without a spiritual life South Feb. 18-20, St. Joseph s (Fr. Iggie + Deepahalli Marianists) First-Year Professed South: Feb 22-24, St. Joseph s, Deepahalli North: yet to be determined (Bro. Basant, Fr. Rajesh) Recent Council Visitations During the month of February, the District Council will complete a series of visitation, allowing Bro. Augustus to depart for the Provincial Chapter in St. Louis with a good amount of work completed. The visits began on Feb.5-6 at Infant Nilaya after three days of Council meetings at Chaminade Nilaya on February 2, 3 and 4. Visits continued at the REDS Deepahalli s St. Joseph s Community on Feb. 7 and 8. The Vidya Sagar community of the scholasticate was visited on Feb. 9, 10, and 11, with the Faustino Community being the hosts for the District Council members (Bro. Augustus, Fr. Jack, Fr. Iggie and Bro. Basant) on February 12 and 13. The Council moved on the Mariapuram community in Khammam for Feb. 14, 15, and 16. On Feb.17, Bro. Augustus, Fr. Jack and Bro. Basant move on to the Maria Nivas brothers of Budakata, hoping to include a visit with the new bishop of Rourkela, the Most Rev. Kishore Kumar Kujur. On Feb. 21 the Council will begin a visit with the Asha Deep community in Binda until Feb.23. Feb. 24-26 will find the Council at Gyan Deep and on Feb. 27 and 28 with the brothers of Fidel Nilaya. Bro. Augustus will lead a visitation of the other communities in Jharkhand and Bihar in April. Fr. Jack will be visiting some of that same communities later in March. The District Council will hold a Council meeting at Gyan Deep on March 1.
