Early-Stage Researchers (ESR) shall, at the time of recruitment by the host organisation, be in the first four years (full-time equivalent research experience) of their research careers and have not been awarded a doctoral degree. Individual Fellowship - IF Individual Fellowships (IF): enhancing the creative and innovative potential of Experienced Researchers who wish to diversify their individual competence in terms of skill acquisition through advanced training, international and intersectoral mobility. IF provide opportunities to transfer new knowledge and to work on research in a European context (EU MS and AC) or outside Europe. www.eu-jordannet.eu 5

Eligibility Check ü RESEARCHERS MAY BE OF ANY NATIONALITY ü Researchers must move from one country to another to broaden or deepen their competences. ü Jordan is considered eligible to both types of IF: European Fellowship (EF) & Global Fellowship (GF) In EF Jordanian researchers move to a European Host organization; In GF Jordan must participate as a Host organization ü Researchers must be Experienced Researcher (ER) www.eu-jordannet.eu 6

MOBILITY RULES At the time of the relevant deadline for submission of proposals researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity (work, studies, etc) in the country of their host organisation for more than 12 months in the 3 years immediately prior to the reference date. Compulsory national service and/or short stays such as holidays are not taken into account. In the EF, researchers shall not have resided or carried out their main activity in the country of their host organisation for more than 3 years in the 5 years immediately prior to the deadline. www.eu-jordannet.eu 8

INSTITUTIONAL UNIT COSTS Research, training and networking costs This unit cost amounts to 800 per person/month (24 months = 19 200 ) and is managed by the beneficiary to contribute to expenses related to, for example: the participation of researchers in training activities expenses related to research costs execution of the training/partnership action Management and indirect costs This refers to a unit cost of 650 per person/month (24 months = 15 600 ) that is to be used for the management and indirect costs of the action. www.eu-jordannet.eu 11

DEFINITIONS The Beneficiary is the host organisation who recruits, supervises and provides training for the researcher, taking complete responsibility for executing the proposed action. The Supervisor is the scientist appointed at the host organisation to supervise the researcher during the whole duration of the action. Partner organisations do not sign the Grant Agreement and do not employ the researchers within the action. Partner organisations provide additional training and host researchers during secondments. Secondment period means the period(s) spent by the staff member in a host institution (including travel periods) for carrying out the project in line with the provisions of the Grant Agreement. www.eu-jordannet.eu 12

EXAMPLES. EF (RI Panel) A Jordanian researcher obtained his/her master degree in Biology in 15 June 2010 in Sweden. From 1 September 2010 until 15 May 2014 he/she did her PhD at a University in Japan and applies for a 12-month fellowship in the LIF panel in liaison with a host Institution in Sweden. In the Part B a 1.5-month secondment to a University in Netherlands is mentioned. The Experienced Researcher is without family obligations at the deadline of submission of proposals. GF. A Jordanian researcher obtained his/her PhD in Physics on 15 May 2008 in France in Physics and was employed in research full time since 16 May 2008 at a Polish University. The researcher applies for a Global Fellowship in the PHY panel with a 24-month outgoing phase to a University in the USA and a 12-month mandatory return period in Spain. A 3-month secondment at a SME in Portugal is foreseen during the return phase. The Experienced Researcher has family obligations. www.eu-jordannet.eu 13
