Kirn Middle School Before/After School Activity Options Please sign up your student for the new activities/programs offered to kick off the new year (January 2015). Many activities / programs that started in 2014 continue all year round, please take note of them listed below. Some activities/programs that previously started are still accepting new students! Please cross reference the activity dates, meeting times and days when signing up for activities this will eliminate the activities/programs that conflict with each other. ATHLETES: Due to schedule conflicts, if you are participating in an athletic sport during January (Girls Basketball & Wrestling) you will not be able to attend some of the after school activities (T-F). Transportation to all activities off school property will be provided by the school district and students will return to the school, unless noted otherwise. If your student rides the bus there will be a late bus available to them, leaving the school at 4:30 pm. *Additional paperwork (i.e. permission slip, physical form) may be required for certain Before & After School activities/programs. These will be handed out when the schedules have been completed. January schedules, for those who have registered by Thursday, Dec 17th, will be handed out to the students on Friday, Dec 19th, during the Advisement period. Schedules will also be e-mailed to students & parents/guardians. Registration will close online Tuesday, Dec 23! Students who register Dec 17 - Dec 23 will only have schedules emailed to them! If you do not receive a schedule, contact the Site Facilitator. Teens will learn effective communication skills, time management, conflict resolution and teamwork. Water Polo Swim Team Prep Gaming Theater MONDAYS Do you love to swim? Do you have a competitive edge? Come learn the game of water polo and have scrimmages against your friends. At Kirn Pool (max 20 students) Have you thought about joining our Middle School Swim Team? The season is quickly approaching Feb 10 - March 20! We welcome 6th, 7th, and 8th grade Boys & Girls. The team swims as a combined team with Wilson and St. Albert's. This prep will give you stroke lessons and teach you technique as well as help those beginner swimmers. At Kirn Pool Jan. 5, Monday @ 1:15-3:30 pm Jan. 12, Monday @ 1:15-3:30 pm Calling all gamers!!!! Experience the mobile video game theater truck and trailer that seats 28 gamers at once. Students can play XBox 360, Wii U, Wii, PS3, and the new XBox gaming consoles with their peers. All games played will be E rated! Students will have a minimum of 30 solid minutes Jan. 12, Monday @ 1:15-4:30 pm of gaming time but will also be required to research and present individually or in small groups on their favorite video game to an audience. Adapted Bowling A Novel Bunch Session 3 TUESDAYS For students within our special education programs. Bowling is fun! Come learn to bowl or enhance your skills. Have fun being part of the Jan. 13 - Feb 3, Tuesday @ 3-5:30 pm team, making new friends and meeting up with your club. Teams will be bused to Thunderbowl and need to be picked up from there at 5:30pm. Do you love to read? Develop your love for reading with the Novel Bunch! This is a great way to earn volunteer hours and have a positive impact on others in your area through a variety of projects. New to the kitchen, don't worry because you will learn a lot too! At the end of the year, we will put together a Literary Magazine to show friends and family the pieces we've been working on. The storytelling theme emphasizes exploration and creativity, allowing club members to build a new story each club while using technology. Students will learn basic coding concepts like sequencing, events and conditionals. You'll be breathing fire after attending this activity! Get together with other wizards to play this game and rule the kingdom! Just want to have fun and make new friends? Join the friendship club for a variety of activities from art projects, nail painting to jewelry making and more!
