NOTICE TO THE PUBLIC We wish to welcome you to the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education Meeting. Please be advised that tonight s meeting may be videotaped for presentation on cable. This agenda copy is provided for your convenience. Each Board member receives his agenda and an abundance of informational material well in advance of each meeting. He, individually, has had the opportunity to study each item and to ask questions of school personnel. The Board meeting is for the purpose of conducting public business and is not designed to be a public forum. Your questions and suggestions, however, are most welcome. In general, all comments and questions should be brought to the attention of the school's administration. In most instances problems can be settled in this manner. Please fill out the forms available should you wish to address a comment to the Board of Education. A place on the agenda has been provided for this purpose. In addressing the Board, state your name and address. Please keep your comments short and to the point. The Board will gladly accept your suggestions and requests and will try to answer your questions when possible. Accept the resignation for the purpose of retirement of Jacqueline Dembek, Tennyson Elementary, effective the end of the 2010-2011school year. c. Accept the resignation of George Elias, Brookside, volunteer boy s basketball coach, effective. 2. It is recommended that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education grant a continuing contract to the following certified personnel, effective 08/23/11; a. Majer, Kelly M Step 3 $41,767.00 b. Donna Rini, Summer Bridge Program teacher, $1200.00 b. Beth Scherry, Summer Bridge Program teacher, $1200.00 c. Valerie Rion, Summer Bridge Program teacher, $1200.00 d. SCHOOL HANDBOOKS AND FEE SCHEDULES attached Elementary Handbook, Sheffield Middle School Handbook changes and the Fee Schedules for Knollwood, Tennyson, Barr, Forestlawn and Sheffield Middle School for the 2011-2012 school year. E. SUMMER HELP attached requests for summer help from the Technology Dept., Maintenance Dept. and the Bus Garage. F. YOUTH FOR UNDERSTANDING USA It is recommended that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education approve participation of Brookside High School in the Youth for Understanding USA international exchange organization. G. P.T. SERVICES REHABILITATION, INC. It is recommended that the Sheffield-Sheffield Lake Board of Education approve the attached contract with P.T. Services Rehabilitation, Inc. to provide PT services for those students that require this related service to benefit from their special education program for the 2011-2012 school year. H. PRESCHOOL AGREEMENT LORAIN COUNTY BOARD OF DEVELOPMENTAL DISABILITIES attached Preschool agreement with Lorain County Board of Developmental Disabilities for 2011-2012 school year. RESOLUTION OHIO HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION following resolution with the Ohio High School Athletic Association; BOARD OF EDUCATION/GOVERNING BOARD RESOLUTION Authorizing 2011-2012 membership in Ohio High School Athletic Association WHEREAS, Sheffield-Sheffield Lake City Schools, of 1824 Harris Rd., Sheffield, Lorain County, Ohio has satisfied all the requirements for membership in the Ohio High School Athletic Association, a voluntary not for profit association; and WHEREAS, the Board of Education/Governing Board and its Administration desire for the schools with one or more grades at the 7-12 grade level under their jurisdiction to be voluntary members of the OHSAA; NOW THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION/GOVERNING BOARD that all schools listed on the reverse side of this card shall be members of the OHSAA and that the Constitution, Bylaws and Sports Regulations of the OHSAA shall be approved and adopted by this Board of Education for its own minimum student eligibility standards. The Board of Education/Governing Board reserves the right to raise the eligibility standards as the Board deems appropriate; BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the schools under this Board s jurisdiction agree to conduct their athletic programs in accordance with the Constitution, Bylaws, Regulations, Interpretations and decisions of the OHSAA. Furthermore, the schools under this Board s jurisdiction agree to be primary enforcers of the Constitution, Bylaws and Sports Regulations and their interpretations. J.
