Dear Applicant, Your generation is part of an exciting time where being bilingual or multilingual is essential for a well-rounded global education. The World Languages Institute (6-12) is a School of Choice and the first Fort Worth ISD School focused to continue the biliteracy and bilingualism of Dual Language Enrichment and Spanish Immersion students, which includes a strong cultural component. At this school, you will continue to receive instruction in Spanish and English in a rigorous academic project based setting, which will include Pre-AP and accelerated courses delivered by Gifted and Talented certified teachers. A strong technology component will also be incorporated in the day-to-day instruction, which together with the opportunity to add a third language will provide you with the tools to embrace any career of your choice. Our school will collaborate and participate in many exciting projects with local universities, Sister Cities, just to mention a few. Before applying for the World Languages Institute; review the student profile and criteria. Your complete application must be submitted in a timely manner before it can be processed and reviewed. Incomplete applications will not be accepted. Student selection will be based upon lottery selection. All students who apply to attend World Languages Institute will participate in an English and Spanish assessment to determine their linguistic and instructional needs in both languages. The exam is administered in the month of May. An orientation meeting mandatory to all applicants will take place in January at 6 P.M., date and location TBD. Students who are English only speakers interested in the Spanish Immersion Program will write their essay in English and express why they want to learn Spanish. Fort Worth ISD s World Languages Institute (WLI) is the first secondary school to open its doors to students from the Dual Language Enrichment and Spanish Immersion programs, as well as students who are interested in pursuing careers with an international focus. WLI students will continue their study of Spanish and English by taking courses in both languages, and they will have the opportunity to begin the study of a third or fourth language. Students will graduate from WLI multilingual and multicultural a perfect match for the marketplace that awaits them.
