School Newsletter May 4, 2018 Weekly Edition Principal s Message Sunday s Coming Sometimes a week seems to drag by. As the week unfolds, news of some kind may come our way. Sometimes the news is good and sometimes it is bad. Sometimes the week is just plain busy. We look forward to the end of the week as a time to catch our breath and get ready for the next one. Busy weeks are good weeks, and that s what has happened this week. Lots of things are happening at school. Classes are pushing hard to the end, and the end is in sight. The excitement is growing for end of year trips and activities. We have some surprises up our sleeves as well. Stay tuned for all that! Tonight is the auction. Our church and school family gathers as community to celebrate and raise funds for our school. Over the last several years we ve tried to remodel some part of our school each summer. This year is our most adventurous summer yet. The playground is being replaced along with the computer lab as we know it. Our auction money will go for the remodel of the lab - and, oh what a space it will be! New seating, chairs, technology and more will be found within that space! I look forward to showing you the finished product. It will be amazing! Next week brings the final concert of the year. The arts are alive and well at Immanuel and Tuesday evening will showcase our talented students. But that s next week..before that evening comes around we have a weekend in which to catch our breath. It s the weekend I look forward to, but not for the reason you might think. The time I look forward to most is Sunday. That s the time I pause to gather myself and get ready for the next week. I do that best by pausing in the Lord s house for worship. In this house, I am fed and nourished. In this house I am reminded of God s love for me. In this house I am reminded that I am a cherished and chosen child of the most high God! In this house I am convicted of my sin and assured of God s forgiveness through His Holy Supper. I am fortified for another foray into the world and can again look forward to the week s end when I am filled once more with God s grace and love. I m reminded that it s not about me at all or what I have done. It s really all about what God in Christ has done for me. Yes, our weeks are busy and filled to the brim, but remember - Sunday s coming! Come catch a breath in God s house. He s there waiting to fill you up to the brim for the busy week ahead! Because, It s Still All About Jesus! Sue Domeier

Music Class CHANCE TO SHINE During these last weeks of the school year, students in grades 1-5 are given an optional Chance to Shine in music class. Students recently discussed this opportunity in class with Mrs. Bartelt and received an explanation letter/sign-up sheet to bring home. Many of our students take music lessons or have music-related interests outside of music class here at school, so Chance to Shine gives students the opportunity to share these talents with others in music class. For example, any gr. 1-5 student can play a prepared selection on the piano, his/her band instrument, or sing or perform a dance for the class, etc. Younger students might also bring in an instrument from home to demonstrate and tell about. Participation is voluntary students are NOT REQUIRED to perform for the class. Students who have returned the signed permission slip to their classroom teacher will receive a confirmation sheet from Mrs. Bartelt with their scheduled performance date. Grades 3-4 Participation in Tuesday s Music Concert Did you see the letter with details about grade 3-4 s participation in the music concert THIS Tuesday, May 8th at 7:00 p.m.? Immanuel students will perform their final music concert of this school year, featuring performances by the school chorus, school bands (including many new fourth graders ), student handbell groups... and three vocal/classroom instrument selections by ALL students in third and fourth grade classes. Parents, students, and relatives please make a note to join us for this special concert!
