CCSD Dress Code Strictly enforced Sent to the dean the first time This is class, not the mall Girls-If I send you to the teacher across the hall go Boys-I will deal with you (house shoes, pants on the ground, drug related, sexual, violence, etc.) Why does CCSD have a common dress code? Entering Class I will always be at the door to greet you Stay outside until instructed to enter You need to start getting ready for class Do not horseplay or go through anything while I am at the door Get supplies ready Sharpen pencils Be in your seat when the bell rings
Beginning of class Make sure you have sharpened your pencil, grabbed your journal, (rbook for reading), and are quietly in your seat before the bell rings. The first 10-15 minutes of class are reserved for journals, attendance, and any information that needs to be given to you. (silent time) We will not always go over the journal, but it must be completed (part of your overall grade) We will go over the journal thoroughly in the upcoming week
Please remain in your seat Get up only if you have teacher permission Make sure you raise your hand and ask (do not call out) During independent activities you may move around (projects, reading corner, etc.) Why is this important to follow? What do you think this does to the classroom environment?
Talk only when appropriate If others are working quietly and independently, this is not the time to talk If an adult, student, classmate, etc. is addressing the class (including asking/answering a question) show them respect. Keep all conversations school appropriate. Adults are not exempt from this..
Talk only when appropriate (Cont d) Don t let talking interfere with your work or other students work. Please don t talk about other students, teachers, etc. This will be construed as bullying.
Stay on task: Please stay awake (you may always stand) Work only on classroom assignments (we will always have plenty to do) Listen to the teachers directions, and if you have a question raise your. I like to teach and I don t like to nudge you 12 times per class. *Failure to work will result in progressive discipline and loss of participation points (big part of your grade).
Bathroom Procedures When the time comes and nature calls, do the following: Have out your bathroom coupon (name and date) Make sure it is yours (discipline if not) Prefill out you agenda You will then fill out the green class bathroom sheet on the clipboard You do not interrupt instruction You come back within 5-7 minutes (longer you will lose privilege) When you enter the classroom, quietly sign in and begin working (Do not interrupt instruction to ask what you missed) Bathroom tickets will be issued at the beginning of each quarter Tickets not used will be extra credit and do not carry over
Daily Objective Every day there will be an objective written on the board. Make sure you write it in your agenda (given next week) Myself or another adult will come by while you are working to sign it If it is half done or not at all, you will not get a signature Agenda s will be given a weekly grade (25 pts) I expect that you will do this in all classes KNOW YOUR OBJECTIVE!! Why is it important to use your agenda?
Put away Nuisance items According to CCSD, nuisance items are defined as: items that interfere with the learning environment. Cell phones IPods (and anything else that starts with an I) Headphones Makeup Mirrors If found with these items in class, I will confiscate them and turn them into the deans office. Not giving them up constitutes insubordination and will immediate referral to dean s office What are some other items that are considered nuisance?
Borrowing items Your are required to bring with you each and everyday a pencil, paper, agenda and a notebook If you forget your pencil or pen, I will provide you with one Sign out for the pencil After a trend of not having a pencil a parent contact will occur Do not make this a habit You are responsible for bringing your supplies each day
Computer usage Treat them with respect You must sign a Acceptable Use Policy letter prior to using You will be assigned a computer in the following weeks Any damage needs to be reported at the beginning of class, or else I will assume you did it No drinks by computers Do not touch other peoples computers (result in loss of points and a parent contact)
End of class/cleanup When the teacher says it is time to clean up: Put away your journals in the correct bin Put supplies away properly, if something goes in a bin, put it in the bin. Don t leave ANYTHING on your table. Sit in YOUR ASSIGNED seat QUIETLY, you will be doing a closure activity. When the bell rings and I have dismissed you, quietly and orderly leave the room Turn to your shoulder partner and discuss what the word orderly means.
Closure Prior to leaving class each day, we will have a review of the day s lesson The last 10 minutes will be reserved for closure I will have a question or a TPS for you to do Closure is part of your participation grade Why is closure such an important process?
Fire Drill/Evacuation Procedures When the fire alarm sounds: Quietly and orderly get out of your seat Leave all items as the door will be locked We will all walk together to the designated area When we arrive outside, boys line up in one row and girls in the other Roll will be taken so listen up Do not leave our class to go hang with your friends When the area is clear we will return back to the classroom Re-focus and start where we left off
Shelter in Place Instruction will continue as usual I will tape the door to simulate we have followed the appropriate steps If it is real, the door seams and vents will be plastic wrapped and taped Why do we tape the doors and put plastic on the vents?
Soft Lockdown If an announcement occurs do the following: Continue working and listen for other announcements Do not call home or panic Listen to the teacher for any other instructions Do not leave the classroom
Hard Lockdown When a hard lockdown is announced the following will occur: The door will remain locked The window will be blocked We will all go to an area of the room out of public view Duck and cover No noise whatsoever (discipline if you do) No one comes or goes Resume regular classroom instruction after the announcement to clear When would we go into a hard lockdown?
