TRIBAL WATER & WASTEWATER OPERATOR WORKGROUP MEETING 24 th Street Conference Center Phoenix, Arizona March 27-28, 2018 MEETING OBJECTIVES: Since 1983, the Tribal Water & Wastewater Operator Workgroup Meetings have been a forum for Tribal water and wastewater system operators to share ideas and concerns with peers, attend short training sessions, and contribute directly to the continuing development and planning of the certification, training, and technical assistance services provided by the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. (ITCA). As professional Tribal water/wastewater utility and environmental staff, your feedback is vital to maintaining the quality and effectiveness of the National Tribal Water & Wastewater Operator Certification Program at ITCA. You are encouraged to participate in the roundtable sharing session and bring ideas or suggestions to the meeting. The ITCA Program is your program and all input and suggestions are welcomed. The National Tribal Operator Workgroup Meetings help ensure that these services are genuinely by tribes and for tribes. FOCUS OF THIS MEETING: During this meeting, subject-matter experts will provide short training seminars and guest speakers will present on SDWA rules and regulations, wastewater reuse, water loss control programs, and other hot topics for Tribal utility programs. ITCA will provide updates pertaining to the Tribal Operator Certification Program, and activities of the ITCA Program Advisory Committee. The meeting will finish with a roundtable discussion session where Tribal operators may discuss matters of interest. Preliminary applications will be considered on a first-come, first-served basis and will be subject to funding availability. Please follow the steps below if you are interested in receiving a travel expense reimbursement stipend. 1. Submit a completed Preliminary Application for Travel Reimbursement Stipend to ITCA before close of business on Wednesday, March 14, 2018. The form must include the signature of the attendee s supervisor. The Preliminary Application Form is available upon request. 2. Applicants that are approved by ITCA will receive written notice stating the level of funding available for their travel reimbursement stipend. 3. Following travel, the traveler must submit a complete Final Travel Expense Reimbursement Claims Form with attached receipts. Preliminary applications shall include proposed travel expenses that meet the federal government GSA rates. The maximum per diem rate for Phoenix, Arizona for the period of this event is $174 for lodging and

$59 for meals and incidentals. According to federal guidelines, local residents traveling less than fifty miles one-way are eligible only for mileage reimbursement costs for use of privately-owned automobiles at the rate of $0.545 per mile. ADVISORY COMMITTEE MEETING COMMITTEE MEETING BY TRIBES AND FOR TRIBES March 26, 2018 8:30 AM 5:00 PM 24 th Street Conference Center Phoenix, Arizona OBJECTIVES OF THE ADVISORY COMMITTEE: The National Tribal Water & Wastewater Operator Certification Program at the Inter Tribal Council of Arizona, Inc. (the ITCA Program ) serves to meet the needs of system operators working on federal trust Tribal lands and to provide a jurisdictionally-correct alternative to state certification programs. Tribal operator certification is an additional way by which Tribal governments can exercise their sovereignty and promote their self-determination goals. The ITCA Program is established by tribes and for tribes through oversight from the Tribal communities it serves. The purpose of the ITCA Program s Advisory Committee (the Advisory Committee ) is to have direct involvement by Tribal water and wastewater utility managers and system operators in the advisement and planning of the certification program s continuation and growth. Your participation is critical for the continued success of the program. FOCUS OF THE MEETING: Main topics for the Advisory Committee s attention will include wastewater system classification, standardized exam development initiatives, revisions of the Program s guidelines and application forms, and challenges faced by the ITCA Program. Your input is necessary to ensure the ITCA Program s services are genuinely by tribes and for tribes. DATE AND TIMES: The Advisory Committee Meeting will begin at 8:30 AM on Monday, March 26, 2018, and will include a working lunch. The meeting will conclude at or before 5:00 PM.
