It is truly amazing to see so many generous people celebrating the Eucharist with the Saints. After mass our guests were invited to join us for breakfast in the Multi Media Center of the school. Thank you to those who were able to attend. To all of the benefactors who were unable to be here, know that we pray for you often. If you would like information about League of Angels please contact Mrs. Mattern. Corpus Christi Saints Come Together As A Family The first Project Based Learning activity this school year had our middle school students planning and leading the entire student body in a virtuebased lesson on anti-bullying. The middle school students prepared comic book presentations to share with their family members, reinforcing their roles as leaders and mentors for the younger students. Each family unit consisted of a student from each grade level, kindergarten through 8th grade. This first PBL activity was a huge success and all of the students reported having a great time bonding with their families! Future family activities will be planned throughout the school year to continue to strengthen and build on the new relationships formed from this wonderful opportunity. Coming up soon, we look forward to eating a Thanksgiving meal together with our school families, teachers, and parish staff. MISSION STATEMENT: With Christ as our teacher, the Corpus Christi Catholic community will prepare students academically, socially and spiritually to be lifelong learners in a faith-filled environment.
PAGE 2 Be A Light and Share The Warmth! This year the Corpus Christi Saints are shining brightly and want to put their faith into action by providing coats and toys to students in need who attend a small school in Northern Arizona. The reservation school is part of the Hopi tribe and has 167 students in grades K-6. The Christmas tree in the rotunda still has many candles representing each child, their coat size, age, boy or girl and one toy they would like. Please consider taking a candle to provide a child with a much needed coat and a small toy for Christmas. We ask that students do not take a candle without their parent present, unless we have been notified. It will be very important to return the candle with the coat and/or toy to the school office. Please do not wrap the coat or toy. Thank you so much for your continued generosity and kindness! What a wonderful way to prepare for Thanksgiving! Fall Band and Choir Concert November 16th The 5th Grade Band and Middle School Band will be performing on Thursday, November 16th at 7:00 p.m. in the gym of the Education Center. Everyone is welcome to come out and enjoy an evening of instrumental music. Please join us in support of the Arts at Corpus Christi Parish School! 5th Grade Middle School Parent Meeting & Visitation Day On Wednesday, November 29th at 6:30, we will have a 5th Grade Middle School Parent Meeting. We invite all 5th grade parents to attend and learn about the wonderful Middle School education and electives that we have in place at Corpus Christi Parish School. This will provide the opportunity to meet the Middle School staff, tour the facilities, and visit with past Middle School students and parents. In addition, on Thursday, November 30th, the 5th grade students will have a Middle School Visitation Day. This day provides students the opportunity to shadow a current Middle School student, visit the Middle School classrooms and meet the teachers. We will share the same information about the education, electives, and procedures that we shared at the parent meeting. This will give 5th graders a chance to experience Middle School first hand. All 5th grade students and parents are invited to attend these informational meetings. Come see what Corpus Christi Middle School is all about!! The 8th grade class will be selling pans of freshly baked cinnamon rolls on Sunday, November 19 th, after the 8 a.m. and 10 a.m. masses. The cinnamon rolls will be $15.00 for a pan of rolls. Gift From The Heart ECKAN Juvenile Detention Center Kaw Valley Center Lawrence Community Shelter Project Lively Dept. of Children & Families The Children s Shelter Basic Needs It was 20 years ago that the Gift From the Heart ministry began at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, four years before the parish school opened. It has become a wonderful tradition for our school families. Each year we receive wish lists from approximately 250 families which range from clothing to toys to a simple request for food for a holiday meal. The need increases yearly as well. The Saints talk daily about how to Be A Light. Each morning as a school, we put into practice doing something that shines a light on everyone around us. On Monday, November 27 th and Tuesday, November 28th there will be a table set up in the rotunda adorned with some of the hearts. The deadline for returning your gift to the school office will be December 4th. You may also pick up a heart in the narthex of the church. Donations of tissue paper, boxes and scotch tape will also be appreciated. For additional information please contact Angela Loch at dwloch@yahoo.com or 785-843-4084. As we begin Advent, take a minute on the 27 th or 28 th to collect a heart with your Saint and let s keep shining bright!
