Anita has been the EEPS Business Manager, however before that she started as a parent helper, library organiser, member of the office team and finally Business Manager. Anita will be missed, her knowledge of the history of the school, the families and their many children has been an invaluable asset in meeting the community needs and keeping us all organised. On Monday 5th March we will acknowledge Anita at our whole School assembly at 9:00am. Families are warmly invited to attend this assembly. On Tuesday we had over 200 new students and families at our Prep and New Families Picnic at Alistair Knox Park. It was a great turn out complete with perfect weather. There was lots of mingling and happy children. Hopefully families were able to make some new connections. Thank you to all the teachers who supported this event. We are only sorry that our sausage sizzle couldn t keep up with the demand on the day! Last week we had a visit from our Senior Education Improvement Leader, Clare Read, to look at our Annual Implementation Plan. This document is prepared every year to outline the teaching and learning focus for the year based on the four year Strategic Plan. She was very impressed and complemented the entire staff on their continued and sustained focus on core learning. As a part of our curriculum planning all our teaching teams reflected and planned for a half day last week whilst the students attended their usual specialist programs. Teachers used the collegiate time to monitor student growth and modify necessary plans for literacy, numeracy and units. Thank you to our retiring members, Kirsty Cadusch, Geoff Little and Chris Hall, for their significant contributions to the School Council over a number of years. Along with the school focus on Literacy and Numeracy all grades have been incorporating weekly lessons using our PATHS program. As an additional adjunct to this program the Preps have started their special weekly sessions with Drama Toolbox focussing on ways to play kindly with your friends and on ways to make everyone feel safe and included. Our Swimming team did a great job last Friday competing in the District Swimming carnival with the other local schools. There was a lot of team spirit, encouragement and students prepared to give it a go for the team. Overall we were placed second with 17 students going through to the Division competition.
