Students will use and be tested in a variety of communicative strategies. Within the course, they will use receptive and productive skills to focus on communication in the real world. Instruction will be conducted through the text as well as a number of supplemental, authentic materials. An immersion approach will be taken to the course, and thus the target language will be spoken by both instructor and student. Advanced concepts of grammar, vocabulary, and culture will be learned and mastered through readings, class discussion, tests, media, and projects.

Academic Standards Addressed (ACTFL 5 C s): Communication Communicate in Language Other Than English Standard 1.1: Students engage in conversations, provide and obtain information, express feelings and emotions, and exchange opinions. Standard 1.2: Students understand and interpret written and spoken language on a variety of topics. Standard 1.3: Students present information, concepts, and ideas to an audience of listeners or readers on a variety of topics.
