February Newsletter View this email in your browser Executive Director's Message Dear Members, February is a great time to celebrate family! Take some time this month to do something fun together and celebrate Family Day on Monday, February 15th, 2016. Some fun ideas to bring the family together include, Sunday breakfast, Friday game night, weekend shopping, playing in the snow or going for a hike. My family will be on the ski hill as long as there is snow! Here at LDAPR our Winter Group Program classes are well under way. We still have space in our Academic Tutoring programs if you are looking for some extra help for your child or teenager. Click here for more information on our Academic Tutoring programs. Winter 2016 Programs Update The start of our Winter 2016 Programs was a huge success! The Programs Department is receiving positive feedback on all programs running this session. We would like to send a huge thank you to all of our Program Staff for the hard-work, support and passion they show when working with the children, youth and adult participants and their families. We are still taking registrations for our Academic Support & Assistive Technology Programs. The Learning Disabilities Association of Peel Region is looking for a volunteer to provide assistance in our Social Skills Program located at Herb Campbell Public School. If you need volunteer hours or are looking to gain experience working with children with learning disabilities and ADHD, this is a perfect opportunity for you! We are currently working on our Spring 2016 Program Schedule. More details will be available in the next newsletter. Please contact the Programs Coordinator for additional information. Orton-Gillingham The Programs Department and Client Services Department will be working closely with our team of Orton-Gillingham Educators to offer this program to more students and to increase awareness of the benefits of the program over the next few months. In the spring, we will be: Preparing workshops and presentations on the Orton-Gillingham Approach to parents and professionals Offering small group options to accommodate more students in the program Investigating a possible Orton-Gillingham Summer Camp Program Providing an intensive training session to certify more staff in the Orton-Gillingham Approach Contact the Programs Co-ordinator Abby Stefan for more information about Orton-Gillingham or progams at astefan@ldapr.ca or 905.272.4100 ext 206 Our 2nd Annual Golf Tournament this year will be held on June 28th, 2016 at the Caledon Golf & Country Club!
