DATE: July 15th 2015 GORMANDALE & DISTRICT PRIMARY SCHOOL NEWSLETTER Soaring to great heights Name:... It is amazing to think that it is term 3 already I wrote Term 3 in several work books the other day and had to think is it really that far into the year. Welcome I was excited to welcome a new family to our school yesterday; Zed and Oscar have moved to our school. Peta Bishoff has also joined our school this term; she is working in the Grade 2/3 classroom, completing the final placement of her teaching degree. Melbourne Art Centre Excursion This term is a little less hectic with only one excursion to Melbourne. On the 29 th of July we will be heading to Melbourne in two separate groups I have attached the run down on which excursion each of the students will be attending. I am unable to make any changes in swapping times. A permission form will be sent home tomorrow, please return this by the 22 nd (Wednesday) so I can finalise numbers. School Council A reminder that we have our monthly School Council meeting next Tuesday. Bug Blitz Session The Grade 4/5/6 students will be attending a Bug Blitz session at the Yarram Wetlands on the 21 st of July. Permission forms will be sent home on Thursday. Spelling Homework Unit 19 spelling words have been sent home today in the spelling homework books. A reminder that these need to be back at school on Tuesday. Sporting School (the new Active After School program) We are signed up for Sporting Schools. I will send out more information next week. I am expecting the program to begin on the 28 th of July. It will run Tuesday and Wednesday nights from 3.30 till 4.30pm. Camp, Sports and Excursions Fund The Victorian Government will now be providing funds to assist families with concession cards or foster parents, to pay for camps, excursions and sports (including swimming). Eligible family payments will be made during Term 3. The amount that Primary School students are funded for is $125 per student. Application forms are attached and need to be completed and returned to the office by Friday 17th July. Lunch Orders Thanks to Jane Salsbury for volunteering to do lunch orders. Attached is a survey which we would like people to fill in and return. There has been some discussion about changing items on the menu. We value parent and students input. PARENTS CLUB PIE DRIVE Pies supplied by Out of Dough Morwell. Please return your order form along with correct money by Thursday 23rd July. No late orders can be accepted. We anticipate pie delivery will be Thursday 30th July.
