At this point as a safeguard, you should go to the Edit Menu, choose Preferences and make sure the top box is NOT checked. We do not want to use Ig Pro s server. - 9 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

DEFINING YOUR GRADING RULES **The next step in setting up your gradebook is defining grading rules. From the SETUP Menu, choose Grading Rules. You will notice that there are 4 tabs at the top of the window. Attendance Codes TAB Use attendance codes to explain why a student is absent. (A-absent and T-tardy are the only attendance codes you will utilize.) The tardy marks are for YOUR records only. No changes need to be made to the Attendance Codes Tab window. Grade Tables TAB Grade tables associate a letter grade with a certain range of scores. Modify the grade table at this time to indicate the grades you wish to assign to students based upon their scores on any given assignment. Enter the letter grades and lower percentage limits you wish to use when assigning grades to students. In this example, entering an A+ with a lower limit % of 99 will result in a student receiving an A+ if they have achieved a 98.5% or greater on any assignment. Notice that you can control the rounding by entering more decimal places in the lower limit %. Adding New Grades and Sorting Letter Grades - 10 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

You may need to click the NEW button to add new letter grades. You may also click the SORT button to sort your grades to verify the ordering and lower limits you have entered. Rename or Delete a Grade Table **You may rename your grade table if you desire. You may also delete a grade table if you have multiple grade tables and no longer need them. You may also create a new grade table if you are grouping students and wish to grade students in the same class using a different grading system/table. Please see the NEW FEATURES in IGPRO 9.3 manual for help with setting up different groups and grading tables. Deleting a Grade Table 1.) Highlight table you want to delete. 2.) Click Delete. - 11 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Special Scores TAB Special scores are given by the teacher to indicate special circumstances. IGPro - Approved Teacher Remark Codes The following Teacher Remark Codes (Special Scores) have been approved by the ODS Professional Council for use in IGPro. Use ONLY the remark codes as shown below in your gradebooks. Do NOT add your own codes! These remark codes will appear on the Parent Access website. ABS OMIT NHI NA DROPPED LATE NCA Student was absent from class. Grade reflects a ZERO until completed. Omit - Student was not required to complete the assignment. Grade is NOT affected. Not Handed In - Student has not yet handed in this required assignment. Grade reflects a ZERO until completed. Not Applicable - Student was not given this assignment. Grade is NOT affected. Dropped Grade Grade was dropped from computation of overall grade. Grade is NOT affected. Late Student handed in the assignment late. Grade MAY BE reduced at a percentage, based on teacher discretion. To change the percentage from the default of 50% reduction, the teacher will need to choose to SETUP > Grading Rules > Special Scores. Choose the LATE score and enter a different SCORE VALUE in the appropriate location. No Credit Allowed Student handed in assignment past deadline, unexcused absence, other circumstance resulting in no credit being given. Grade will REMAIN a ZERO. NOTE: The Special Scores have been automatically added to your gradebook for this year. You do not need to do anything to change these unless you desire to change the late percentage value. - 12 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Utilizing a special score type symbol code ** **To use a special score in the gradebook, you will Right-Click and choose the special score from the pop-up menu. TYPE SETS TAB Type Sets Create a type set for each class you are teaching that will use a different grading system. Task Types Create a new task type for each different category of grade you will use in each type set. Tasks Create a new task for each new assignment you give and for which you will enter a grade. IGPRO figures the grade according to the value of the symbol as it is defined in the Special Scores Tab. - 13 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Types = Rows Sets = Columns If you are going to use more than 1 system of grading, you will need to keep as many Type Sets or different grading systems that you will use. You can delete any additional Type Sets you will not use. For example, if you use Total Points in some classes and you weight grades in another class, you will need TWO Type Sets, as shown above. If you use Total Points in all of your classes, you will need only 1 Type Set and you could name it Total Points or your last name, etc. TOTAL POINTS If you are going to use a Total Points grading system, enter 100 for each Type you will use in your gradebook. Your total will NOT add up to 100 but will be a multiple of 100. WEIGHTED GRADES If you are going to use a Weighted Grades system, enter a percentage for each category. Your total should add up to 100. The example on the next pages will help you set up either a Total Points system for grading or a Weighted Grades system. - 14 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Using a Weighted Grading Scale Weighted Grading System When using a weighted grading scale you must now designate each classes spreadsheet as weighted for each quarter! From the SETUP Menu, choose Spreadsheets. From the Calculation Method drop-down box, CHANGE to Weighted Type. You must REPEAT this for every class each quarter! - 15 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Using a Total Points Grading Scale Total Points Grading System From the SETUP Menu, choose Spreadsheets. From the Calculation Method drop-down box, CHANGE TO Total Points. You must REPEAT this for every class each quarter! - 16 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

You may also Delete any Types that you are not going to use, or Rename them to a unique name. Click New Type to add a new Type/Category. - 17 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Extra Credit Extra Credit Assignments versus Adding Bonus Points at the End of a Semester There are 3 basic ways to give extra credit to students. They are: Giving a student more than 100% on a task. Adding points to a task type. Adding to the overall spreadsheet grade. 1. Giving a student more than 100% on a task Although each task has is out of a set number of points, you can exceed that out of to give a bonus. Exactly how many percentage points this contributes to the final grade depends on how many tasks you ve set up (in the task type for Weighted Type, or the entire spreadsheet for Total Points) and task type weighting (on Weighted Type spreadsheets). 2. Adding points to a task type To add points to a task type, create a task of that type, out of zero. Points assigned to this task will be added directly to the type s total (on Weighted Type spreadsheets) or the total points for the spreadsheet (on Total Points spreadsheets). Exactly how many percentage points this contributes to the final grade depends on how many tasks you ve set up (in the task type for Weighted Type, or the entire spreadsheet for Total Points) and task type weighting (on Weighted Type spreadsheets). For example: On a Weighted Type spreadsheet, the Quiz type contains two tasks: Quiz #1 (out of 10) and Quiz #2 (out of 10). This means the Quiz type is out of 20. Create a new Quiz task out of zero called Quiz Bonus. If George Jones received 8 on each Quiz, he has 16 out of 20 possible Quiz points (75%). If you give him a score of 2 on Quiz Bonus, he will instead have 18 out of 20 possible Quiz points (90%). 3. Adding to the overall spreadsheet grade **If at the end of a semester, for one reason or another, you decide to add on points or percentage points to students, you could use the following method. (Ex: Change a student s grade from a 69.2% to a 70.2%) With a Weighted Type spreadsheet, this means adding percentage points. On a Total Points spreadsheet, this means adding points. To do this, you need to create a task type called *bonus*. You must put an asterisk (*) before and after the word bonus. Enter a weight of zero for this task type. To add this kind of bonus task, create a task of type *bonus* out of 0. Scores entered on this task will add directly to the overall grade. - 18 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Setting up Bonus Points: You can add points directly to the final spreadsheet grade in both Total Points and Weighted type numeric spreadsheets. Any class that includes *bonus* in the Task Type Set, allows Bonus Points. On a weighted numeric spreadsheet, if you give a student one point in this new task, their final spreadsheet average increases by one percentage point. Example: A student has a 69% and you decide to add 1% point to give them a 70%. In a Total Points numeric spreadsheet, entering one point adds one poin to the Points Received, not the Percent. Creating Bonus Points 1. Select Setup > Grading Rules. 2. Select the Type Set tab. 3. Select New Type. Be sure to add the asterisks before and after the word bonus with NO spaces. - 19 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

4. Enter *bonus*. 5. Click Create. 6. Key in the value of 0 for *bonus*. 7. Click Close. 8. Select New task from the Task Menu. - 20 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

9. Name the task Bonus Points or Extra Credit. Leave the Out of value set to O. 10. Click Create. 11. Enter bonus points The new task, Bonus Points, is displayed on your spreadsheet. You can enter bonus points for one or more students. It affects only their total score; not the total scores for the entire class. This is done only at the END OF A QUARTER! *Note: Other students are never penalized for either having no score or a O in *bonus*, assuming you correctly assigned the *bonus* type a weight of zero in Grading Rules. - 21 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

Creating New Tasks (Assignments) Assignments, test, etc. are called tasks when using Integrade Pro. You can enter a new task at any time. Blank scores are considered excused. Therefore it is not a problem to enter tasks early. The blanks can be easily changed to zeros for those students who fail to complete assignments. 1.) Choose Tasks 2.) New Task OR Ctrl & N OR click The first time you create a new task you will see this dialog box. 1.) Click Next. Assign a task name. Date Assigned and Due Date Utilize the calendar to assign dates. **It is VERY important to enter the DUE DATE for all assignments so that they display on the ParentAccess website. - 22 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual

What Type /category of assignment/grade is it? *Type is setup up in grading rules. (Setup > Grading Rule > Type Set) 1.) How much is the task worth? - Raw Score / Points 2.) Scale Factor should usually be set to 1.0 unless you are weighting the single assignment to be worth more points. 3.) Provide the Maximum Score (for extra credit points give a maximum score higher then the Raw Score). 4.) Click Create. A new task has been created. Key in score for each student and press Enter. The student s letter grades will automatically be assigned based on the grading scale in setup. You may also RIGHT-CLICK to enter a Special Score. - 23 - InteGrade Pro 9.3 Secondary Teacher Manual
