Welcome to the updated Infinite Campus Grade Book! Infinite Campus is a comprehensive student information system that is constantly evolving. Updates to the grade book component, starting on January 16, 2018, will change cosmetic and functional aspects. This guide leads teachers through these changes to ensure proper grade book use. Current: After Update: The App Switcher is hidden Message Center is no longer the landing page Account Settings has moved New Shortcuts For grade book technical support, submit a QUICK-IT request, contact User Support Services (USS) at (702) 799-3300, option 1, or e-mail Help Gradebook via Gmail. Also, visit training.ccsd.net/gradebook for helpful support resources. Infinite Campus Grade Book Updates Assessment Department Page 1 of 6

Landing Page: Upon logging in, teachers will see a new Control Center. Attendance and Assignments: Teachers can now take attendance and score assignments from the landing page. Menu Icon: Click here to open the Index Menu. Here you will find the App Switcher to switch between Campus Instruction and Campus Tools. The Index Menu is still the location for the Grade Book and Message Center features. Click again to hide this menu. User Menu: The profile-shaped icon is the menu for Account Settings and Log Off. Message Center and Notifications: See the Message Center for district communication and the bell icon for notifications. Please notice that the Message Center is no longer on the landing page. To access district communication specific to the grade book, please click on Message Center. Inf n us Gr e ook Updates Assessment Department Page 2 of 6

Control Center Attendance: Attendance can now be taken directly from the Control Center. Taking Attendance: Click Take for the appropriate section. Present (P): Present is the default mark. Absent (A) and Tardy (T): When marking a student Absent or Tardy, the Comments field appears. Student Information: Click on a student s name to view contact information, class schedule, grades, and attendance. Click Save and Close to return to the Control Center. Note: Seating charts may be used when selecting Attendance from the Index Menu. Control Center Assignments: Assignments can now be scored from the Control Center. Selecting Assignments: Click Score for the appropriate section. Select All for all assignments in that section and Unscored for assignments that have students for which there is no score. Scoring Assignments: Click on the assignment to be scored. The Fill Scores area may be used to enter the score and/or flag if the same score or flag should be applied to all students listed here. To save changes, press Enter or click Save. Click Close to complete scoring for the selected assignment. Pro Tip! The Missing flag calculates as a zero, which is an inaccurate reflection of student progress. Best practice in grading suggests the use of the Late flag instead, indicating that the student has yet to turn in the assignment. Inf n us Gr e ook Updates Assessment Department Page 3 of 6

Creating Categories in the Grade Book: Categories are now automatically assigned to all grading tasks, both Quarter Grade and Semester Exam. As a result of this functional change, both Quarter Grade and Semester Exam are available to be selected whenever an assignment is created. Semester Exam should only be selected for the Semester Exam to ensure proper compositing towards the Semester Grade. Creating Assignments in the Grade Book: There are some functional updates in the grade book with respect to assignments. Click on Grade Book in the Index Menu. Creating Assignments: From the grade book, use the Settings arrows to open the Grade Book Setup menu. The aspects of creating an assignment that have changed are described below. Assignment Detail Window: Click on the +Add button or select an item in the Curriculum List to open the Assignment Detail window. Scheduling/Grading Alignment: More than one of the same course may now be selected when creating an assignment by clicking the Add/Remove button. This will be convenient for those who teach multiple sections of the same course. Category: This is now selected using a dropdown menu. Standard/Grading Task: Select Quarter Grade, or Semester Exam, as appropriate. As always, Save before exiting. Inf n us Gr e Book Updates Assessment Department Page 4 of 6

New Features in the Grade Book Setup Area: These new features can be used to streamline your work. New Feature! Section Groups: Now teachers can group sections in a single grade book view. This tool will be especially convenient for those teaching multiple sections of the same course. To begin, select Section Groups and click Add to view the Section Group Detail window. Name the group and select the courses to include, clicking on Save to exit. Section groups can then be accessed in the grade book by using the section dropdown menu. When viewing a section group, common assignments may be scored together. Inf n us Gr e Book Updates Assessment Department Page 5 of 6

New Feature! Assignment Defaults: This feature will save you a few extra steps when adding assignments that you commonly use, such as a weekly quiz or daily check for understanding by serving as a template for these assignments. To start, click Assignment Defaults and then choose Add. Enter a name, determine if you would like this default to be used automatically for each new assignment, and a section grouping may also be selected. You may also select an assigned date and a due date. Enter the Scoring Type and Total Points (if desired) before clicking Save to exit. When creating an assignment, select the Assignment Default (shown below) to populate the default settings, indicated by arrows. For grade book technical support, submit a QUICK-IT request, contact User Support Services (USS) at (702) 799-3300, option 1, or e-mail Help Gradebook via Gmail. Also, visit training.ccsd.net/gradebook for helpful support resources. Inf n us Gr e Book Updates Assessment Department Page 6 of 6
