Student Information: Click on a student s name to view contact information, class schedule, grades, and attendance. Click Save and Close to return to the Control Center. Note: Seating charts may be used when selecting Attendance from the Index Menu. Control Center Assignments: Assignments can now be scored from the Control Center. Selecting Assignments: Click Score for the appropriate section. Select All for all assignments in that section and Unscored for assignments that have students for which there is no score. Scoring Assignments: Click on the assignment to be scored. The Fill Scores area may be used to enter the score and/or flag if the same score or flag should be applied to all students listed here. To save changes, press Enter or click Save. Click Close to complete scoring for the selected assignment. Pro Tip! The Missing flag calculates as a zero, which is an inaccurate reflection of student progress. Best practice in grading suggests the use of the Late flag instead, indicating that the student has yet to turn in the assignment. Inf n us Gr e ook Updates Assessment Department Page 3 of 6
Creating Categories in the Grade Book: Categories are now automatically assigned to all grading tasks, both Quarter Grade and Semester Exam. As a result of this functional change, both Quarter Grade and Semester Exam are available to be selected whenever an assignment is created. Semester Exam should only be selected for the Semester Exam to ensure proper compositing towards the Semester Grade. Creating Assignments in the Grade Book: There are some functional updates in the grade book with respect to assignments. Click on Grade Book in the Index Menu. Creating Assignments: From the grade book, use the Settings arrows to open the Grade Book Setup menu. The aspects of creating an assignment that have changed are described below. Assignment Detail Window: Click on the +Add button or select an item in the Curriculum List to open the Assignment Detail window. Scheduling/Grading Alignment: More than one of the same course may now be selected when creating an assignment by clicking the Add/Remove button. This will be convenient for those who teach multiple sections of the same course. Category: This is now selected using a dropdown menu. Standard/Grading Task: Select Quarter Grade, or Semester Exam, as appropriate. As always, Save before exiting. Inf n us Gr e Book Updates Assessment Department Page 4 of 6
