All gameswill be played at Ashford University Field, home of the Class A Clinton LumberKings. Coaches need to nominate their deserving senior players by lling out the All-Star Series player recommendation form found in this issue or go to the website. Include a photo of your player, along with as much information as possible. This will give our coaches the best opportunity to select the best high school players. The Board of Directors passed a policy in 2005 that any player/coach selected to participate in the All-Star Series must have a minimum sponsorship fee of $225.00. More always helps defray the cost of the series. It will be the high school coach s responsibility to help their players get sponsorships for the All-Star Series. This policy is necessary in order to off set the cost of putting on the All-Star Series. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact your district representative or an of cer for further explanation. Please have sponsorship fees paid and sponsorship names turned into the Executive Director no later than August 2nd if your player is selected. Remember, nomination forms are due by July 1. Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association Presents the 2015 IHSBCA Junior Showcase The Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association will be holding the 5th Annual Junior Showcase for baseball players completing their junior baseball season. We will also be accepting 30 sophomores for the first time. The showcase cap will remain at 150 players. The date will be Sunday, August 2, 2015, hosted by Southeast Polk High School in Pleasant Hill, Iowa. The showcase will begin at 9:00 a.m. and conclude by 3:00 p.m. No games will be played. All players will be timed in the 60 yard dash. Catchers will be timed on their throws to second. Outfielders will show their arm strength with throws from right field to third base and home plate. First basemen will field ground balls and display their arm strength to third base. Shortstops, second basemen, and third basemen will field ground balls at their respective positions and show their fielding ability and arm strength with a variety of throws to first base. They will also turn a couple of double plays. Pitchers will throw 15 pitches off the mound, showing their fastball, curve-ball, change up, and any other pitches. All position players will be given an opportunity to take 10 swings in the cage. Players may only work out at one position. Coaches are asked to nominate their 2016 graduates who may play college baseball. IF YOU ARE NOMINATING, PLEASE INFORM PLAYERS THAT THEY MAY BE SELECTED.
