Villanova University offers a variety of academic resources for students. This guidebook serves as a point of reference for faculty to help students find the relevant programs and services that are available to them academic support and tutoring, peer mentoring, assistance for students with disabilities, professional development, and much more.

UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES University-wide academic resources are available to all undergraduate and graduate students within the six colleges.

UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES CENTER FOR ACCESS, SUCCESS AND ACHIEVEMENT (CASA) CASA focuses on recruiting, retaining and graduating underrepresented, first-generation, and Pell Grant eligible students through holistic support in a culturally diverse and academically excellent environment. Services, programs and resources include personal counseling, academic counseling and tutoring, peer counseling and peer mentors, career guidance, life coaches, financial aid assistance, and more. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES CENTER FOR RESEARCH AND FELLOWSHIPS (CRF) CRF supports Villanovans to enhance their career trajectories through mentoring, student research funding and assistance in winning competitive awards. CRF assists students, alumni, faculty and staff with applications to major awards, including the Truman, Goldwater, Udall, Fulbright, Marshall and Rhodes scholarships, the National Science Foundation Graduate Research Fellowships, and others. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES FALVEY MEMORIAL LIBRARY Subject librarians provide research assistance and personalized instruction in library resource navigation, information discovery and scholarly source documentation. Students are encouraged to explore the librarian-designed guides and resources online, as well as to contact subject librarians. Personal help is available in person and by live chat, text, phone and online. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES HEALTH PROFESSIONALS ADVISING PROGRAM The Health Professionals Advising Program supports students who are pursuing degrees in the health professions. Advisers assist students through every aspect of their journeys, beginning with early exploratory stages, continuing through course selection and professional development opportunities, and concluding with the process of assembling and reviewing application materials for graduate programs. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES LEARNING SUPPORT SERVICES (LSS) LSS offers a variety of academic support services to help all students maximize their academic success, including study skills workshops, study groups and homework help sessions for select courses, academic coaching, and study skills consultation. LSS also works with faculty to provide accommodations for students with documentation for learning disabilities, neurologically based disorders, and those disabled by chronic illness. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES MATHEMATICS LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (MLRC) MLRC provides support and resources to students studying mathematics and statistics. The center offers free tutorial help for students taking freshman- and sophomore-level math and statistics classes. It also provides a mathematical environment for students to work together on group projects or study independently. MLRC is also equipped with computers installed with various types of mathematical software packages and educational computer programs. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES OFFICE OF ACADEMIC SUPPORT FOR ATHLETICS The Office of Academic Support for Athletics provides supplemental academic support for all varsity student-athletes. The academic support staff act as liaisons between the academic and athletic communities, and monitor academic progress to ensure that NCAA and University rules and regulations are being met and that progress is being made toward graduation. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES OFFICE OF DISABILITY SERVICES (ODS) ODS works to coordinate the appropriate services and accommodations for students with physical disabilities, and serves as the center for general information and specialized knowledge on physical disability issues. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES OFFICE OF EDUCATION ABROAD (OEA) OEA supports the more than 850 students annually who study abroad on yearlong, semester, summer and short-term programs. Through OEA, Villanova partners with universities and organizations all over the world to provide an enriching experience abroad. UNIVERSITY-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES VILLANOVA WRITING CENTER The Villanova Writing Center offers free, one-on-one peer tutoring sessions to all students. Students are encouraged to bring assignments, drafts and papers at any stage in the writing process for individualized tutoring that will help them produce their best quality work and gain further knowledge to apply to future writing assignments. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES CLAY CENTER VILLANOVA SCHOOL OF BUSINESS The Clay Center serves as a one-stop shop for undergraduate VSB students, connecting students with academic advisers, peer advisers and faculty mentors who facilitate the exploration and development of academic and career goals. In addition to advising services, the Clay Center coordinates the VSB Peer Tutor program, as well as major and career programming events. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES O DONNELL CENTER FOR PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT The O Donnell Center for Professional Development coordinates academic internships and co-ops, offers professional development and career programs, collaborates with student business societies, and leads company site visits. The Center also manages the alumni mentor program, connecting current students with engaged alumni providing additional insight into professional opportunities. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES PEERS ENHANCING EDUCATIONAL RESOURCES FOR STUDENTS (PEERS) COLLEGE OF ENGINEERING PEERS is a student-run mentoring organization that works to enhance the overall experience of Villanova s engineering students. Peer mentors are assigned to specific students, typically freshman or transitional students, but they are also available to all undergraduate engineering students through weekly office hours; by phone, email and text; and at special programming events. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES TUTORS The College of Engineering offers tutoring in conjunction with PEERS and the various engineering honor societies. Students may visit PEERS during their office hours, Monday through Friday. Each department s respective honor society has additional information. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES LEARNING RESOURCE CENTER (LRC) COLLEGE OF NURSING The LRC provides clinical simulation labs for nursing students to practice new skills, and to carry out a variety of nursing simulation activities. Graduate students and peer mentors are available to undergraduates for individual and group tutoring, clinical skills practice, dosage and calculation, preparation for lab testing, and lab makeups. COLLEGE-LEVEL ACADEMIC RESOURCES NURSING STUDENT RESOURCE ADVISOR The Nursing Student Resource Advisor supports students with advising and other academic issues, such as study tips, strategies for academic success, externship opportunities, test-taking practice sessions and programming on various learning styles. In addition, the Nursing Student Resource Advisor can connect students with private tutors for Chemistry, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology and Genetics, Healthcare Statistics, Pathophysiology, and Pharmacology.
