About The Society for Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism (IAPEN) is an organization in the field of parenteral and enteral nutrition and promotes basic research, clinical research, advanced education, organization of consensus statements about clinical care and quality control. The workshop on critical care nutrition is hosted and organised by IAPEN Muzaffarpur Regional Centre in collaboration with Mahant Darshan Das Mahila College, Bihar on 11th September at Department of Home Science, Mahant Darshan Das Mahila College, Amir Khusru Colony, Mithanpura, 842002 Muzaffarpur Regional Centre Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, Mahant Darshan Das Mahila College, Club Rd, Mithanpura, 842002 In order to promote Advanced Education in Enteral and Parenteral Nutrition and to facilitate the academic pursuits of more number of Nutrition Support Clinicians, Clinical Nutritionists, Nurses and Pharma from the educational institutions, hospitals and health care settings, IAPEN announces at 26 different locations throughout India, Nepal and Bangladesh. Nutrition is an integral part of healing and maintenance of health. The workshop was designed for medical, nursing & nutrition professionals who were interested in learning nutrition assessment tools, early enteral nutrition, approaches to parenteral nutrition, immunonutrition, disease specific nutrition for fighting againist Iatrogenic Malnutrition. The workshop also contains hands on training on Nutritional calculations, Enteral Diet, Parenteral Nutrition Products handling and mixing and Enteral Nutrition Devices. This workshop provides the most up-to-date critical care nutrition practice recommendations; latest nutrition assessment tools; and the knowledge and resources you need to take your critical care nutrition practice to the next level. Nutrition is an integral part of healing and maintenance of health. Poor nutritional status in pre, peri and post-operative critical care patients leads to less than optimal outcomes. Nutrition intervention is necessary for treatment of critical care patients. This workshop of IAPEN will provide such a forum for multi-disciplinary interaction on Critical Care Nutrition. About M.D.D.M. College, Muzaffarpur Mahant Darshan Das Mahila Mahavidyalaya, a premier institution of B.R.A. Bihar University, Muzaffarpur is doing a commendable job in the field of women education. Established on 15th August, 1946, the institution has been an alma mater for numerous young, progressive and dynamic women. It was on 25th July, 1946, that a group of nationalists, educationists and social thinkers like Rai Bahadur Shri Narayan Mahatha, Rai Bahadur Uma Shanker Pd., Shri Harisadan Bhaduri, great educationist Dr. J. K. Sarkar, Rai Bahadur Veereshwar Chatterjee, Shri Atulanand Sen and Shri Mahesh Pd. Singh, gathered in the premises of Chapman Girls High School,Muzaffarpur and laid an informal base to the establishment of this institution. Mahant Darshan Das, a progressive thinker in the field of women education was invited to that meeting. Perhaps, he was also inspired by the ideas of the nobel laureate Rabindra Nath Tagore. ï ½O Lord, why have you not given women the right to conquer her destiny, why does she have to wait head bowed by the road side waitingvwith tired patience hoping for the miracle in the morrow. His dream came true as the first foundation stone of this institution was laid down with the help of a sum of Rs. one lac donated by him. A governing body was constituted by Shri Mahesh Prasad Singh, Rai Bahadur Shri Narayan Mahatha, Shri arisadan Bhaduri, Rai Bahadur Shri Shyamnandan Sahay, C.I.E, Shri Ramnaumi Prasad, advocate, Md. Badrul Hasan, Dr. J. K. Sarkar, M.L.A, Prof. Atulanand Sen.The governing body took womenï ½s education as a mission and soon the journey of this college started with just a few students. Dr. J.K. Sarkar took charge as the first Principal. He was a man of great endeavour and determination and soon the institution started to flourish. He was succeeded by Shri Atulanand Sen. The mission for female education finally started taking shape and Mrs. Lavanya Prabha Ghosh took charge as the first female Principal of the college. She was a woman of talent and dynamism and the institution started to climb the unforeseen ladder of success. The number of students increased enormously and the college received its first grant from the government as a constituent unit on 01.04.1962. The institution witnessed a golden period under the simple, soft spoken, efficient administrator Dr. Lalita Sinha, who took charge as the Principal on 9th Nov, 1956. She nurtured the institution at the early stage and tried her best to maintain educational environment. An epitome of punctuality, sincerity and honesty, she tried her level best to develop a sincere work culture on the campus which paved the way to achieve success in every field. The institution was blessed with a series of hardworking and able Principals like Dr. Meera Sen Gupta, Dr. Shashi Lekha Mishra, Dr. Sunity Pandey, Dr. Munni Singh, Dr. Pramila Singh, Dr. Nirmila Singh and at present Principal Dr. Mamta Rani the competent, energetic, motivating and innovative Principal. The college started to flourish in a multidirectional dimension. At present the college has strength of about five thousand students. Vocational Courses like Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics, B.C.A, B.B.A, Industrial Microbiology and food science & Quality Control are providing better job opportunities to the students. Different advanced; certificate and diploma courses are there to enrich the students. Workshops are organised to help the students improve their skills in different fields like the art of living, Madhubani Painting, Modern arts, Creative Writing etc. are also taught. The students have excellent in the field of NCC and NSS. Our Visions are Personality Development and empowerment of women through motivation, dedication and value based education to enable them to lead a purposeful life. Our mission in 2016-2017 is Din Dayal Upadhaya Kaushal Kendre Scheme by UGC, The College has Applied for B. Voc. Course in I.T., Apparel Making and Hospitality And Tourism. We have also Applied for The B. Ed., MCA, MBA, Women Study Center and CPE (College with Potential for Excellent) The mission of the college is to provide quality education on a strong foundation of Indian values and traditions with emphasis on commitment to social progress, peace, harmony, national integration and women empowerment. Accredited by NAAC, the only college in Bihar to be awarded CPE Status in 2016, funded by RUSA, the Institution has tried level best to provide; attest facilities to its students and has broadened the scope of research. About Department of Home Science, MDDM College Dept. of Home Science established in August 1946, is one of the premier dept. of the college. The department offers various courses including, Home Science Honours for undergraduate students and Food & Nutrition Course for Post Graduate Students. The department also offers vocational courses in the area of Clinical Nutrition & Dietetics for UG and PG students and Add-on course on Food Science & Quality Control. About IAPEN Lifelong Learning Initiative The aims of IAPEN and its collaborating organizaions like ESPEN, NESPEN and other sister PEN Societies are to encourage the rapid diffusion of knowledge and its application in the field of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition or, more broadly, Clinical Nutrition and Metabolism in hospital settings. The IAPEN Lifelong Learning Initiative provides stimulating, congenial, and varied opportunities designed specifically for lifelong learners in advanced clinical nutrition research. Indian Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Publish papers in Indian Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition Provisional scientific topics include: The Indian Journal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition publishes research articles, communications, and reviews on all aspects of basic and applied nutrition. It presents up-to-date, concise, critical reviews of key topics in parenteral and enteral nutrition science advancing new concepts and hypotheses that encourage the exchange of fundamental ideas on nutritional well-being in humans. About Muzaffarpur Muzaffarpur is a sub-metropolitan city located in Muzaffarpur district in the Tirhut region of Bihar. It serves as the headquarters of Tirhut division, Muzaffarpur district. It is the second largest city in Bihar after Patna. It is also amongst the few cities in Bihar other than state capital Patna which fulfill nearly all the criteria to be called a Sub Metropolitan City. It is located at a distance of 68 kilometres from state capital Patna. Muzaffarpur is famous for Shahi lychees and is known as the Lychee Kingdom. It is situated on the banks of the perennial Burhi Gandak River, which flows from the Someshwar Hills of Himalayas. The present city of Muzaffarpur came into existence in the 18th century and is named after Muzaffar Khan, a Revenue Officer during the British Raj. The litchi gardens are an important tourist attraction here. Other places of interest in the city are Ambara Chowk, Katra Garh, Khudi Ram Bose Memorial and Rajkhand. Some of the famous temples in Muzaffarpur are Baba Garibnath Temple, Chaturbhuj Sthan Temple, Durgaasthan Mandir, Ramna Devi Mandir, Kali Mata Temple of Sikandarpur, Shri Ram Temple, Simri Mai Temple of Police Line. One can visit the city with ease and comfort by taking all means of transport such as taxi, an autorickshaw,or a cycle rickshaw. City ring bus service run by regional transport authority has deployed mini buses plying on five different routes which can be use for local transportation as well. Baba Garibnath Temple is one of the oldest and famous temples situated at the Purani Bazaar area of Muzaffarpur. It is dedicated to the Hindu God Shiva. It is believed that Baba Garibnath appeared in the dreams of the owner of this place and revealed that he was Baba Garibnath who has great sympathy for poor. He directed Shri Shivdhari Pathak to regularly worship and take care of the temple and to install a shivling there. He did as he was instructed in his dreams. Since then Baba Garibnath Temple is understood to grant the wishes of its devotees. This temple is also called second Baidhnath. Pets are not allowed here. The temple is open for all from 5am to 8pm daily. This temple is very well administered by the Bihar State Religious Shrine Board.
