The types of industries employing project managers are extremely varied and include the corporate sector, business, IT, construction, mining and many others. Who this course is for Project managers are usually involved in a diverse range of business activities, working within multiple departments of an organisation, often from top-tier to ground level. RTO partnership information This course is offered by Open Colleges on behalf of North Coast TAFE (provider number 90010) Course Trainers Carolyn Dann Carolyn has worked in the area of project management for over ten years in London, Sydney and Canberra, and has been working as a part time trainer and assessor for the last four years. She holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (majoring in IT), a post graduate Certificate in Management and a Diploma of Project Management. Carolyn has worked as a Project Manager, a Project Advisor and she was the Training and Communications Manager for a large scale program management system implementation. She is passionate about the need for effective project management across all industries. Assessment details Case Studies Portfolio of Evidence Projects Written Reports Recognition of Prior Learning We understand that you may already have many skills and areas of expertise that you have obtained in different ways and these are recognised through our Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) process. Open Colleges has developed an RPL application kit for this course. The Student Handbook, available in the Key Student Information section of our website, provides more information about our RPL process. Alternatively, you can contact a Course and Careers Advisor to discuss your RPL options. Course duration The duration for the course is maximum 18 months. As a self-paced online course, the time it will take you to complete is flexible and dependent on ability and time available. Qualification awarded Upon successful completion of the Fee for Service option of this course you will receive a nationally recognised qualification BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management awarded by North Coast TAFE (Provider number: 90010). Upon successful completion of the VET FEE-HELP option of this course you will receive a nationally recognised qualification BSB51415 Diploma of Project Management awarded by None. Requirements Education There are no specific employment requirements. However, this course is suitable for candidates who work in an environment that allows them to be involved in project management. Open Colleges requires that you have: Completed schooling to Year 12, OR A nationally recognised qualification at the Certificate III level or higher, OR 2 years of industry experience This course would suit you if you have: Completed the BSB41515 Certificate IV in Project Management Practice. Extensive vocational experience in project roles where you had responsibility for the output of others

Minimum age You will need to be at least 18 years old. Computing You will need access to a computer and the internet and you must have basic computing skills. Minimum specifications for your computer are: Microsoft Office 2010 or equivalent Broadband internet connection 2GB of RAM CD-ROM or DVD drive Adobe Reader XI or equivalent Access to software such as Microsoft Excel for producing GANTT charts, or software such as @task, FastTrack Schedule 9, Primavera P6, ZOHO Projects, Microsoft Project You will also need access to a phone, printer, photocopier and scanner Adobe Flash Player 10 or higher. Mac OS users: Mac OS X v 10.5 or higher (Mac OS X v 10.6 or higher is recommended) 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster Intel processor (2GHz or faster recommended). Windows users: Microsoft Windows 7 or higher (Windows 8 or higher is recommended) 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster processor (2GHz or faster recommended) Digital equipment You will need access to: A digital video recording device and/or a digital camera and associated software to save and upload video, image and audio files to OpenSpace. Many mobile phones and smart phones include this technology. Software to view online videos and images. Software such as Adobe Reader, Windows Media Player, Windows Photo Viewer etc. are available as a free download from the internet.
