Inaugural Service, 23 January The inaugural service was held on 23 rd January and it was a service dedicated to welcoming new staff and students to the Stephenian family. The guest of honour was Brother Colin Wee, FSC, Director of Hope House. New staff were presented with a candle each to welcome them as guiding lights to the teaching fraternity. The traditional Welcome to the Family was sung as the school warmly welcomed students who have recently joined the Stephenian family. The service ended with the song We are Lasallian. Chinese New Year Celebration, 27 January The school s Chinese New Year celebrations kicked off with the Chinese New Year songs bustling in the background. The presence of the lion and dragon dance troops made the day even more vibrant and just when everyone thought the concert was over, the dragon dance troop made a grand entrance. Many were awestruck by the moves and sounds that came from the performance. The concert ended with all staff and pupils singing along to popular Chinese New Year songs to usher in the Year of the Rooster.

Prefects Investiture, 20 February The Prefects Investiture was held on 20 th February. It was an important day for the prefects as they were presented to the school as members of the St Stephen s Prefectorial Board 2017. Dylan de Silva gave an opening speech to formally introduce himself as the head prefect of St Stephen s School. During his term, he is assisted by two Vice Head Prefects, Lucas Woon and Daniel Koh. Dylan led all the prefects of 2017 in the Prefect s Pledge. It was certainly an honourable moment for all in the Prefectorial Board that day. English Literary Week, 27 March The theme for this year s English Literary Week is From Print to Screen. The school leaders shared their favourite print to screen books to start off the week. This was followed by a talk by a special guest, author of the famous The Diary of Amos Lee series, Adeline Foo. She spoke about Whoopie s World which is a television programme aired on OKTO channel which was adapted from her book, Whoopie Lee Diaries. Stephenians were excited as they came face to face with the famous author. Many exciting activities were lined up for all the levels during this week to promote the love of the English Language.

Founder s Day and 60 th Anniversary Mass, 6 April Father Ignatius Yeo and Father Charlie Oasan led the Founder s Day and 60 th Anniversary Mass to give thanks to God for the blessings which have been showered upon the school. The service also remembered our founder, St. John Baptist De Lasalle, for his dedication to educate children. The celebration culminated in the choral singing of We Are Lasallians. It was a wonderful day dedicated to rejoice over the contributions of our founder! Stephenian Family Carnival, 8 April The Stephenian Family Carnival was the most anticipated event of the year and the Guest-of- Honour was Mr Kenny Rebeira. He is the chairman of the school council. The exciting and fun game booths brought a lot of joy and laughter for Stephenians as they engaged in the games with their family and peers. The food stations served many delicious local delicacies to whet the palate of everyone present. There were also booths selling St Stephen s School souvenirs as well as other handicrafts for those who wanted to purchase souvenirs from the carnival. Everyone had a blast all in the name of raising funds for the school.

Maundy Thursday, 13 April Maundy Thursday was celebrated on 13 th April at St Stephen s School. It was celebrated to remind Stephenians of the importance of the values imparted by Jesus through his exemplary and significant washing of the feet of His twelve disciples. This year, the principal, Mr Thomas Koh, and Mr Stephen Tan washed the feet of twelve Stephenians. Their actions, which were witnessed by Stephenians, served as a reminder about Jesus actions where true service to others means that we need to always be humble and kind to others. 59 th Annual Athletic Meet, 21 April The 59 th Annual Athletic Meet was held on 21 April at the Bedok Stadium. The atmosphere at the stadium was truly vibrant and encouraging cheers from the various houses were heard to spur the competitors on. The wet weather plan was activated as it started pouring just before the competitive events started. It was a close fight among all the houses for the House Championship but again, St Luke s House managed to retain their title as the champion!

We welcome Mrs Jayapal Hema, Ms Nirosshini, Ms Siti Hajar, Ms Califfa, Mr Dominic Lim, Mdm Charmaine Loh and Mdm Leraine Leowi to the Stephenian Family. Here comes the stork! We congratulate Mrs Nicole Venturi on the birth of her son! Staff Promotion Congratulations to the following staff who were recently promoted: Ms Danielle Hon, Mdm Hafiza Sapiee, Mdm Nadira Noordin, Ms Norshahidah Aziz, Mr Tan Yiru, Ms Zoe Koh, Mr Wu Puwen, Mdm Yang Yiqun and Ms Chong Kai Lin

Lasallian Staff Training Day, 13 March Staff from the various Lasallian schools in Singapore came together for the Lasallian Staff Training Day on 10 March at St Patrick s School. The theme for this year is Uniquely Lasallian and it was led by the Brother Aarmin whose keynote address touched on revisiting the Lasallian educational mission in Singapore. It was a fruitful experience for the staff as the speakers touched on matters that are close to the Lasallian educators hearts such as the importance of quality education and moving towards an inclusive community. Staff Plank Art Painting, 26 May On 26 June, the staff spent a fruitful time engaging in plank art painting. It was an enjoyable activity for all staff as they bonded through the session while working together to complete the planks. The activity brings out the creative side of the staff and the completed beautiful planks are to be showcased around the school in the time to come.
