JADAVPUR UNIVERSITY Kolkata 700032 Information Brochure Filling up of Vacant Seats in UG 1 st Year 2014-2015 courses in Engineering / Pharmacy / Architecture through Open Counseling Eligibility: 1. The candidate must have WBJEE GMR ranks as declared by WBJEEB (according to the result of WBJEE examination 2014 held on 20 th April, 2014) up to a certain rank as specified later in the brochure. 2. Candidates who have passed the Higher Secondary (10+2) Examination in General Stream of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or any other equivalent examination of a University/Board in regular class mode with a minimum of 60% marks in Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics taken together (55% SC/ST/PWD/OBC-A/OBC-B) having individual pass marks in each of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and English are eligible for provisional admission to the First Year Class of the aforesaid Undergraduate Engg /Arch/ Pharm courses. For admission to Undergraduate course in Architecture, the candidate must qualify in the NATA (National Aptitude Test in Architecture) conducted by the Council of Architecture, New Delhi in addition to the above criteria. 3. Medical fitness: Candidates seeking admission to aforesaid Undergraduate Engg /Arch/Pharm courses should possess good health and physique with sound mind and should be capable of undergoing N.C.C. Training. They should not have any physical deformity or infirmity and should not be suffering from any disease or illness that might incapacitate him/her in future. Eye-sight standard : (a) should not be color blind for admission to Chemical, Civil, Architecture, Pharmacy, Metallurgy and Printing Engineering courses; (b) allowable defect - myopia or myopic astigmatism with correcting lens not exceeding 8.00. (Medical fitness will not be required for candidates under Physically Challenged quota). Eye sight standard may be revised by the University. 4. Provisional admission will be made after verification of relevant documents. 5. Admission under SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Quota: (a) The candidate shall have to furnish original and attested copies of valid SC/ST/OBC- A/OBC-B certificate in his/her name issued by the competent authority, as per order, of the Govt. of West Bengal. 1
(b) The candidate must report in person and Provisional Admission be made as per schedule announced by the Jadavpur University. (c) As per circular No. BC-16014/1/82-SC dt.06/08/1984 & BCD-I, D.O.12017/11/89- SCD (R.CELL) dt.08/01/1990 and letter No. 1510-SCW dt. 31/05/2007 issued by the Government of West Bengal, Scheduled Caste/ Scheduled Tribe candidates of the States other than West Bengal be treated as per State Govt. rule. (d) Admission to reserved seats will be made as per rule of Government of India. 6. Admission under Persons with Disability (PWD) Quota: (a) The candidate shall have to furnish original and attested copies of valid Physical Disability / Challenged Certificate in his/her name issued by appropriate authority of Government of West Bengal. (b) The candidate must report in person and Provisional Admission be made as per schedule announced by Jadavpur University. 7. The candidates will have to produce Original and attested copies of the following documents given below at the time of reporting in person: - a) Rank Card issued by WBJEEB (for verification of Candidate s eligibility condition) b) Admit Card of WBJEE-2014 c) NATA Qualification document (for admission in Architecture Department) d) Admit-card, Mark-sheet and Certificate of Madhyamik Examination (Class X) or equivalent examination. e) Admit-card and Certificate of H.S. Examination (Class XII) or equivalent examination. f) SC/ST/OBC-A/OBC-B Certificate in the name of the applicant issued by the competent authority as per order of the Government of West Bengal, if applicable. g) PWD Certificate in the name of the student from the competent authorities, if applicable. h) Family Income Certificate of Parent/Guardian from the competent authority. 8. The candidates must submit the original mark-sheet of H.S. Examination or equivalent at the time admission. 9. The candidates will have to produce following documents at the time of Provisional Admission:- a) 5 (five) copies of passport size photograph will have to be submitted at the counter of the admission desk b) The student and his/her guardian have to produce a signed anti-ragging declaration through online after receiving his/her class roll number. 2
Candidates are requested to take note of the followings: 1. ADMISSION WILL BE MADE COMPLETELY according to the WBJEE GMR RANK depending upon the availability of seats. 2. The candidate will be called according to WBJEE GMR and after verification of the documents he/she will get the option to choose the department based on the available vacant seats at that point. 3. Candidates must submit the original marksheets and other certificates without which no admission will be possible. 4. CANDIDATE MUST APPEAR IN PERSON TO TAKE PART IN COUNSELING AND ADMISSION. 5. NO CANDIDATE WILL BE ALLOWED TO TAKE PART IN COUNSELING AND ADMISSION AFTER REPORTING TIME AS MENTIONED IN THE SCHEDULE. 6. NO ADMISSION WILL BE POSSIBLE IF THE CANDIDATE IS NOT PRESENT IN ANY STAGE OF COUNSELING AND ADMISSION. 7. After each session, the vacant seat position will be declared. Counseling and admission will be continued up to the WBJEE GMR, declared in this notification, if the vacancy exists. Admission will be stopped as soon as the vacant seats are filled up. HENCE ALL CANDIDATES MAY NOT BE CALLED FOR SPOT ADMISSION IF THE SEATS ARE FILLED UP BY CANDIDATES HAVING HIGHER RANKS IN WBJEE. NO FURTHER COUNSELING WILL TAKE PLACE AFTER THE DECLARED SCHEDULE. 8. The candidates must bring a Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque of Rs.10,710/- in favor of Registrar, Jadavpur University payable at Kolkata during the time of reporting. Candidates who are already admitted in Jadavpur University need not pay the amount. THE AMOUNT IS NONREFUNDABLE AND THE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE TO HANDOVER THE SAME ONCE THE SEAT IS ALLOCATED TO HIM/ HER. The candidates who will be allocated a seat for the Information Technology course will have to submit an additional Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque of Rs.25,150/- in favor of Registrar, Jadavpur University payable at Kolkata during the time of admission. The candidates who are already admitted in Jadavpur University and will be allocated a seat for the Information Technology course will have to submit a Demand Draft / Bankers Cheque of Rs.25,150/- in favor of Registrar, Jadavpur University payable at Kolkata during the time of admission. THE AMOUNT IS NONREFUNDABLE AND THE CANDIDATE WILL HAVE TO HANDOVER THE SAME DURING THE TIME OF ADMISSION. ALL J.U. COURSES ARE NON-RESIDENTIAL. 3
