ELITE ATHLETES ADMISSION SCHEME APPLICATION FORM At Flinders, we re committed to supporting Australia s elite athletes to achieve academic excellence while also pursuing a sporting career. Flinders recognises that your performance in the final years of secondary education may have been affected by sporting commitments and your academic results may not be a true indicator of your ability to succeed at university. Our dedicated Elite Athletes Admissions Scheme provides a pathway to university study for elite sportspeople. If you ve officially represented your school or state at a national level competition, we ll consider your school s recommendation about your academic potential when you apply. The pathway is available for a wide range of Flinders courses. WHAT CAN I STUDY? This pathway allows you to apply for entry to many courses offered at Flinders. Check out the list of eligible courses attached to this form. Some Flinders courses have prerequisite entry requirements. You will need to satisfy these requirements as part of the admission process. WHO IS ELIGIBLE TO APPLY? You are eligible to apply for the Flinders University Elite Athletes Admission Scheme if: you are applying for a Flinders course starting next year AND you are an Australian citizen AND you are an elite athlete (officially represented your school or state at a national level competition) AND your studies in Year 11 and/or 12 have been seriously affected by sporting commitments at national level competition HOW TO APPLY To apply for this pathway you will be required to provide: a completed application form (Section A by the applicant Section B by the School Principal or delegate) a written reference supporting the claim of elite athlete status from a sporting coach or manager (on relevant letterhead) You will also need to apply for your preferred course/s via SATAC SELECTION Your application will be considered on a combination of: applicant, principal/school and coach/manager statements two latest school reports overall performance at Year 11/12 studies (including subjects and subject combinations that may not be counted towards an ATAR) achievements in other aspects of life and studies, where relevant (Sport/TAFE/VET/community involvement/work experience/volunteering).
