We are nestled between the majestic Olympic Mountains and the scenic waters of the Hood Canal with the Olympic National Park at our back door. Quilcene enjoys a coastal temperature climate throughout the year. This allows for a wide array of recreational and outdoor activities. The Quilcene School District serves approximately 600 students from kindergarten through 12 th grade on one main campus that is divided into Elementary (K-6), Middle School (7-8), High School (9-12), Crossroads Alternative High School (9-12), and our P.E.A.R.L. Program (K-8). We also serve neighboring Brinnon s high school students. The district has 30+ certificated staff and 35+ classified staff and an operating budget of approximately $6 million. We have numerous educational, athletic, and extracurricular programs and dedicated staff to carry them out. The benefits of working and living in a small school are many. Duties and Responsibilities: 1. Direct, supervise and evaluate the instructional program. 2. Work cooperatively with the teachers to coordinate the instructional program of the district. 3. Annually evaluate the work of certificated (TPEP Model) and classified staff members. When necessary, make recommendations to the superintendent for continued employment, suspension or dismissal of staff members. 4. Keep the superintendent informed on the condition of the school, the activities program and the problems of pupils and staff. 5. Keep complete, accurate and confidential records of each student s attendance, achievement tests, health, academic records, including such student records as are required by law or as are necessary for the educational guidance of students or for the orderly and efficient operation of the schools. 6. Approve all classification, promotion or retention of students. 7. Prepare and submit school supply, book, equipment maintenance and improvement lists. 8. Maintain accurate financial accounting records in the handling of all student, office and district funds. A complete report shall be made to the superintendent at the close of each year. 9. Implement district policies and administrative procedures. 10. Provide leadership for a safe and secure learning environment by addressing discipline policies and procedures, crisis planning, harassment issues, and a positive school culture for all students. 11. Assume responsibility for maintaining good public relations, utilizing community resources, and encouraging parent conferences and visitation. 12. Grant Writing 13. Use discretion in the administration of duties which are not described by the rules and regulations of the State Board of Education, the State Superintendent of Instruction and the Board of Directors. 15.
