D in Chemistry/Materials Science/Materials Engg. with 1 year postdoctoral experience. D in Chemistry with 1 year postdoctoral experience. Experience in synthesis of functional molecules and materials, characterization using techniques such as AFM/STM, confocal microscopy and molecular self-assembly approach to smart materials, photofunctional materials etc. to set up all facilities required for successful implementation of the Smart and Functional Materials programme of CSIR. 7 BTD 1 (OBC) Microbiology from any recognized institute/university, followed by PhD in Microbiology with 1 year postdoctoral experience. Post-doctoral research experience in the area of microbial taxonomy/ evolutionary microbiology and should have worked on the isolation and handling of bacteria, actinomycetes, fungi, etc; studies on microbial biodiversity. to build up the NIIST Culture Collection independently, including isolation, identification, characterization and maintenance of strains; should be capable of leading independent research in the areas of microbial diversity, PGPR, bioactives, etc 8 BTD 2 ( SC) Molecular Biology/ Genetics/Genomics/ Biomedical genetics from any recognized institute/ university followed by PhD in Molecular Biology/ Genetics/ Biotechnology with 1 year postdoctoral experience. Post-doctoral research experience in the area of fungal/bacterial molecular biology/genetics. Candidate should possess sound knowledge on use/handling of molecular tools/techniques such as PCR, hybridization, sitedirected mutagenesis, metagenomics, molecular evolution, etc. to take the lead role in planning/executing genetic modification of fungal and bacterial strains for developing hyperproducers/developing desirable properties aspects/studies in the ongoing programs in the areas of bioprocess and product development, health and genomics, etc;

Tech./B.E. in Chemical Engineering/Technology from any recognized institute/university, followed by M Tech in Biochemical Engineering/Chemical Engineering with 2 years experience Research experience in the area of bioprocess development, modeling, bioreactor operation, etc. to take the lead role in planning/executing biochemical engineering aspects/studies in the ongoing programs in the areas of bioprocess and product development on bioethanol from lignocellulosic biomass; contribute to basic engineering input for bioreactor design, operation, process flow and mass balance, etc for bioprocesses. 10 BTD 4 Life Sciences from any recognized institute/university, followed by. Post-doctoral research experience in the area of biofuels- pre-treatment/ hydrolysis/fermentation for the production of bioethanol from lignocellulosic feedstocks; should possess research experience on multiple topics such as industrial enzymes, biocontrol agents, bioconversion of biomass, bioethanol, protein purification, etc. Candidate should also possess sound knowledge on use/handling of analytical tools such as GC, HPLC, etc. to take the lead role in the area of biofuels program, in particular on lignocellulosic bioethanol; research on bioprocess and product development, especially for industrial enzymes, bioethanol, biopolymers, etc. 11 MMD3 ( PWD) (Ortho paedica lly handic apped) (OH) for UR Physics from a recognized institute/ university, followed by Ph. D in Physics / Materials Science with 1 year postdoctoral experience R&D experience in the electronic materials and /or optoelectronic materials for energy related applications. Experience in design and fabrication of devices will be an additional qualification. to design and fabricate devices using low K dielectric ceramics; energy related devices etc.

Thorough Knowledge of industry standard networking components and technologies (Routers, Switches, Cabling systems, Firewalls, Antivirus, IDS/IPS, VPN appliances, net work security appliances, wireless networking equipment, Video Conferencing etc). is essential. Must have knowledge in hardware, software, Linux, Windows2003 server, Active directory and related IT enabled services. To lead a team engaged in ICT infrastructure development/ installation, up gradation, configuration, maintenance and management of network systems. AGE LIMIT AND RELAXATIONS: 1. The date for determining the upper age limit, qualifications and or experience shall be the closing date prescribed for receipt of application form ie 23.11.2010 2. Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years in the case of SC/ST and by 3 years in the case of OBC candidates for the posts which are reserved for the respective categories, Relaxation of upper age limit for Persons With Disabilities, Ex-servicemen and meritorious sportspersons will be applicable as per GOI rules. The SC/ST/OBC candidates who apply against unreserved vacancies will not be eligible for age relaxation.

3. Orthopaedically handicapped (OH) are those who have a minimum of 40% of physical defect or deformity which causes an interference with the normal functioning of the bones, muscles and joints. 4. Relaxation in age limit up to 5 years may be allowed to Council/Govt./Autonomous Bodies/Public Sector employees in accordance with the instructions and orders issued by the Govt. of India from time to time in this regard. 5. Relaxation in the upper age limit of 5 years applicable for persons who had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period 1.1.1980 to 31.12.1989 subject to production of a certificate from the District Magistrate in the Kashmir Division within whose jurisdiction he/ she had ordinarily resided OR from any other authority designated in this behalf by the Government of Jammu & Kashmir to the effect that he/she had ordinarily been domiciled in the Kashmir Division of the state of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1.1.1980 to 31.12.1989. 6. Relaxation in age, qualification and /or experience may be permitted if sufficient number of candidates possessing the requisite qualification and /or experience are not likely to be available to fill up the posts. General Conditions: 1. Only Indian Nationals need apply. (a) The posts carry usual allowances as admissible to Central Government employees as made applicable to CSIR employees of the same pay and status stationed at Trivandrum. (b) The post is pensionable based on defined contribution under the New Pension Scheme which has been in vogue with effect from 01.01.2004. 2. Application for each post should be submitted separately indicating clearly the advt. no. and name of the post, post no. on the top of the envelope containing application. 5. Incomplete applications as well as those without the prescribed fee will be summarily rejected. 6. Applications from the candidates working the Govt. Department,, Public Sector undertaking will be considered only if forwarded through proper channel and with a clear certificate that the applicant will be relieved within one month of receipt of appointment order. However, advance copy of the application may be submitted before the closing date and No Objection Certificate may be submitted at the time of interview. Applications routed through proper channel should reach this Institute at the earliest. 7. Mere fulfilling of minimum prescribed qualifications and experience will not vest any right in a candidates for being called for interview. The Institute reserves the right to call for interview only those candidates who on its opinion are likely to be suitable and will not entertain any correspondence in this regard.

8. Relaxation in age limit, qualification and experience in case of exceptionally meritorious candidates( both departmental and outsiders) may be allowed with the prior approval of the competent authority. 9. The period of experience in a discipline/area of work where ever prescribed shall be counted with effect from the date of acquiring the prescribed minimum educational qualification for that Group/Grade. 10. Candidates may opt answering in Hindi at the time of Interview. 11. Applications received after the due date and applications that are incomplete are liable to be rejected. 12.
