ABOUT THE COLLEGE / SOCIETY 2.1 Our Trust / Society: The Mahatma Education Society embarked upon its mission of Education for all with the Chembur English High School in the year 1970. The vision, dedication, global outlook, tenacious struggle and undaunted spirit of the Chairman and C.E.O., Dr. K. M. Vasudevan Pillai and the forward looking, untiring energy of the Secretary, Dr. (Mrs.) Daphne Pillai have now transformed the Mahatma Education Society in to a vast educational organization, spread over six elegant campuses at Chembur, New Panvel (Sector 7), New Panvel (Sector 8), New Panvel (Sector 16), Borivali (Gorai) and Rasayani (Raigad District). The Society now manages a total of 48 educational institutions providing quality education from kindergarten to Ph. The campus was established in 1992. The campus offers programmes in Architecture, Management, Degree College and Engineering College which are established in 1992, 1998, 1998 and 1999 respectively. It is run by the Mahatma Education Society. The Engineering and Management College courses are accredited and re-accredited by NBA. The degree college is re-accredited by NAAC with A-grade. The campus also offers Ph. D. degree programme in Computer and Mechanical Engineering. All the courses/programmes are affiliated to University of Mumbai and degree is awarded by University of Mumbai. 2.3 When was the Pillai Rasayani campus established? The campus was established in 2006. The campus offers programmes in Architecture, Management, Degree College, Polytechnic and Engineering College which are established in 2010, 2009, 2008, 2009 and 2009 respectively. It is run by the Mahatma Education Society. The campus also offers Ph. D. degree programme in Computer and Civil Engineering. All the courses/programmes are affiliated to University of Mumbai and degree is awarded by University of Mumbai. 2.4 Is Pillai group of Institutions a private/ deemed university? No. The degrees offered by Pillai Group of Institutions are of the University of Mumbai.

2.5 Are the degrees recognized all over the world? Yes, the degree offered is recognized, the students are eligible to take admission in any university in the world. 2.6 What is the affiliation/ recognition of the Pillai Group of Institutions? The courses / prgorammes are affiliated to the University of Mumbai, recognized by Government of Maharashtra and are approved by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) New Delhi / Council of Architecture, New Delhi / respective statutory bodies. 3. English 3.2 Is it a residential course? No. 4. Results & Recruitments 4.1 How are the results of the First year students? The college results of the first year are more than 75% every year. Also, even if a student fails to clear all subjects, as per provision of University of Mumbai, admission to a higher semester is permitted by keeping terms of limited no. of subjects of the previous semester Allow To Keep Term (ATKT) in some subjects of the first year. Usually more than 90% of the students are eligible for admission to second year. 4.2 How is the Campus Recruitment? The Training and Placement Cell is an integral part of the Institution. The management is fully invested in providing sound infrastructure and human resources to maintain the Training and Placement Cell and the resulting opportunities the cell provides to students of the College. The Cell s primary objective is to provide training and placements to college students: organized activities take place throughout the academic year both in the college and the local area. Students are led to take the initiative to develop their attitude in the workplace, soft skills and are given the opportunity to develop technical skills alongside analytical capabilities. WHO ARE NRI / PIO /CGW/FN STUDENTS? 5.1 About NRI/PIO/CIWGC/FN Admissions Definition: As per the definitions mentioned in the approval process handbook (2018-19) of AICTE and admission brochure of the Directorate of Technical Education(DTE), Government of Maharashtra, Please refer to www.aicte-india.org and http://www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in Definition of PIO (Persons of Indian Origin : Person of Indian Origin (PIO) means a Foreign Citizen (except a national of Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, Bhutan, Sri Lanka and Nepal) who at any time held an Indian passport Or who or either of their parents/ grandparents/ great grandparents were born and permanent resident in India as defined in Government of India Act, 1935 and other territories that became part of India thereafter provided neither was at any time a Citizen of any of the aforesaid Countries; or who is a spouse of a Citizen of India or a PIO. Definition of FN (Foreign Nationals) : Foreign National means the Citizen of Countries other than India who are not of Indian origin as defined under OCI/ PIO.

Definition of NRI (Non-Resident Indian) : NRI in this context means Non-Resident Indian as defined in IncomeTaxAct,1961with the following clarifications: An individual is Non-Resident when he is not a resident or who is not ordinarily resident. A person is treated as not ordinarily resident when any of the following conditions is satisfied: (1) If he/she has not been resident in India in nine out of ten preceding years; or (2) If he/she has not been in India for a period of 730 days or more during the preceding seven years. Definition of CIWGC (Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries): CIWGC stands for Children of Indian Workers in Gulf Countries. CIWGC is a scheme generated by the Ministry of India for the children of Indian expatriates in Gulf countries looking for admissions at the premier Indian Institutes * Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) means a Foreign national, who was eligible to become Citizen of India on 26.01.1950 or was a Citizen of India on or at any time after 26.01.1950 or belonged to a territory that became part of India after 15.08.1947. Minor children of such person are also eligible for OCI. However, if the Applicant had ever been a Citizen of Pakistan or Bangladesh, he/ she will not be eligible for OCI. 5.2 How many seats are available for NRI / PIO /CGW /FN students? The NRI / PIO / CGW / FN seats are available only for UG programs. Branch Bachelor of Engineering in: NRI Children of Gulf Worker (CGW) / PIO / Foreign National Computer Engineering 16 20 Electronics Engineering 12 18 Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering 8 4 Electrical Engineering 2 1 Civil Engineering 4 2 Information Technology 14 19 Mechanical Engineering 8 4 Automobile Engineering 3 3 Branch NRI Children of Gulf Worker (CGW) / PIO / Foreign National Bachelor in Architecture (B.Arch) 6 2 Note : Branch NRI Children of Gulf Worker (CGW) / PIO / Foreign National Master In Management (MBA/MMS) 21 28 a. *5 percent seats for NRI Ward (Non Resident Indian) quota, within sanctioned intake as per AICTE / DTE rule and also we have approval from AICTE for additional supernumerary seats in NRI and PIO/FN/CIWGC category for few courses. b. 15 percent seats for Foreign Nationals (FN) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) / Children of Gulf NRI quota, which is over and above the sanctioned intake, is approved by AICTE. 5.3 Do you have sponsored NRI seats? Yes, the blood relative can sponsor education of a student. 5.4 Who can sponsor? Parents, grandparents, parents direct brothers/sisters or student s direct brothers/sisters holding NRI status can sponsor. The sponsor must be able to produce NRI certificate from the Indian Embassy indicating NRI status and should be holding an NRE/ NRO account in Indian bank or an account in foreign bank.

5.5 Can a foreign student study at Pillai College with a 'Tourist Visa'? No. A foreign student (citizen) can study at Pillai College only with a 'Student Visa'. If the foreign citizen is of Indian origin, then he/she can apply and get a PIO (People of Indian Origin) Card or OCI (Overseas Citizen of India). Students with PIO or OCI can study in India without a student visa. 5.6 How do I apply for a student visa? You can apply for a Student Visa in your nearest Indian Embassy or Consulate. You will have to apply for a Student Visa based on the confirmed admission letter issued by the International Admissions Cell of Pillai College. 6. ADMISSION TEST, if any: 6.1 What are the criteria for admission? Please refer www.dtemaharashtra.gov.in from time to time for admission to Higher and Technical Education for UG and PG degree courses and please visit www.mu.ac.in from time to time for other degree courses. The student can be from CBSE, ICSE or any other board which is considered as equivalent by the University of Mumbai as well as Directorate of Technical Education Government of Maharashtra or must obtain a equivalence certificate from AIU, new delhi. 6.2 Is there any entrance test to be taken by the NRI/PIO student? No. The admissions are given on the basis of the 12th standard or equivalent examination s marks and as per the rules and regulations made by State Government of Maharashtra. Currently no test is required for admission; however, please refer DTE, Maharashtra and University of Mumbai from time to time for any entrance required or applicable for 2018-19 admissions. 6.3 Can an NRI sponsored student pay the course /tuition fee in Indian rupees? NO. 7. ABOUT PROCESS OF APPLICATION 7.1 When do I apply? The pre-application form is available on the web site and can be downloaded from there. A seat may be booked in advance however, the admissions will be confirmed only after results of CBSE / ICSE (Last week of May) and subject to other conditions. 7.2 Do you offer conditional admissions to students who have written the 10+2 or equivalent examination? Yes. There is a provision of a conditional admission by way of payment of a non refundable deposit which can be adjusted against fees. However the admission will be confirmed only after meeting the criteria set by the DTE, Maharashtra and University of Mumbai about results of 12th standard / graduation or equivalent examination. 7.3 How much is the Application Fee? The application processing charges are US$ 500 (NRI/PIO/FN/CIWGC) only (non-refundable). 7.4 How do I apply and from where do I get the application form? June, 2018 8. HOSTEL: 8.1 Is the Hostel compulsory for students? No. The outstation students are given first priority in the allotment of hostel rooms. Students from Mumbai are allocated hostel accommodation based on the distance of their residence from the Institute. There is a separate hostel for girls students. 8.2 Are the rooms Air-Conditioned? We provide A/C and Non-A/c rooms. 8.3 What are the recreational options available at the hostel? Students have access to numerous sports and activities at the Pillai hostel.

8.4 How much is the hostel Fee?
