It is based on extracts from the Parish Council Minutes 1894-1994. Chapter 25. 1919 The First year of Peace. 1919 was a very busy year. Peace was celebrated on July 19th with children's sports and tea and the Band playing at Corsham Court. However, the weather interfered with the programme and Lord and Lady Methuen kindly opened their house as well as their garden. The refreshment committee also had to dispose of surplus food. Presumably fewer came than was expected. Old age pensioners each received 1/6d
